Keith Mosman: Powell's Picks Spotlight: Sidik Fofana's 'Stories from The Tenants Downstairs' (0 comment)
I was a theatre major, and like most theatre majors, I: 1. Insist on spelling “theatre” with an “re” and 2. Don’t actually make theatre any more (and even seeing any plays in performance during the last few years has been a challenge for well-documented, world-historical reasons)...

    Seraphim's Song by Barbara Casey
    ibjoy1953 , August 16, 2022
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK  This is my first book by Barbara Casey, so I haven’t read any of The F.I.G. Mysteries, but this Book Five seems to be OK as a stand alone. There is quite a bit of back story so I had no trouble playing catchup. It seems like Caroline is in for some trouble and hoping the F.I.Gs can help.  I was fascinated with this group of girls. They all ended up at Willow Ros Orphanage and Academy for Girls and formed a group and called themselves female intellectual geniuses, because all of the girls were very highly intelligent, each having gifts that were unique. And it was interesting to follow this group of characters as they developed so well throughout the book.  This is a YA, Middle grade book and I can see this age group loving this story.  Barbara Casey does a fabulous job writing this story, and her amount of research is very evident in the detailed scenes in this book. If you enjoy Mystery and Fantasy type genre, you will enjoy this one as well. And you may want to look at the first four books in the series as well. A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. Mistletoe Village by Kathleen J. Robison
    ibjoy1953 , August 01, 2022
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK I thoroughly enjoyed this Christmas Suspense read. I am glad the sisters decided to move to Grace, Oregon, because it is a beautiful place, and perfect for Christmas. There were times when Rence and Sandy didn’t think they would be safe, but it ends up they are. Mistletoe Village is pretty straight forward, and pretty predictable but it’s fun following the story. There is a bit of suspense in the story. Who is this bloody ax man and what is his secret? You will find out when you read this book! Mistletoe Village seems to be the correct place for Rence and Sandy and their children. A place of love, healing and forgiveness. If you are into Christmas in July and need a good book to read, I encourage you to check out this one with the beautiful cover! I’m happy to give Mistletoe Village Five Stars. A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. Edge of Dusk by Colleen Coble
    ibjoy1953 , July 23, 2022
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK  Wow!I was so very happy to visit Rock Harbor again and hear from Kade, Bree, and and more of the characters and the K-9 we so love from this series. I like to describe this book as like I’ve been away from home for a long time, and finally I come home.  Annie is still running the marina and resort she Inherited from her parents. Jon is back to remodel his dad’s cabin in hopes of selling it. I love these two characters and was certainly giving them a few shout outs when they were spending so much time together. Annie is also is involved in the investigation of two teen girls who disappeared nine years ago, and they suddenly show up in one of Annie’s cabins. Plus she will continue the investigation of her little sister who disappeared about 9 years ago. There’s a lot going on in this story and a lot of characters to tell the story so well. As the investigation beefs up and more people are found to be involved in some way, it really gets scary because apparently the one who took these teenage girls lives is still in the area, cause someone is trying to stop Annie from digging unto the old cold case files. The threats keep coming faster and faster. Some of the scenes are difficult to read, and I found myself going back and re-reading pages, just so I would get everything that’s in the story and not miss anything! I rec'd this book from the author. The opinions here are mine only.

Move Devotional: A Guide for Men to Get Up and Go Forward by Brian Tome
    ibjoy1953 , July 18, 2022
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK MOVE is a Devotional written for men. As I read through the book, I found the Devotions were well written with subjects that are interesting to the man in your life. There are 70 different Devotions with topics such as work, REST (this one is interesting), prayer, spiritual growth, a deeper relationship with the Lord, and so much more. I also like the way the Devotions are laid out on each page. The outside of the book is hardcover, black with orange accents and makes this a striking cover that men will enjoy carrying I really want to encourage you to pick up a copy of this book. You can take your time going through this each day, looking up a scripture and enjoying your time with the Lord. A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. No Pain, No Gaines: The Good Stuff Doesn't Come Easy by Chip Gaines
    ibjoy1953 , July 18, 2022
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK In No Pain, No Gaines by Chip Gaines, Chip is trying to explain how to find lasting relationships and how to better connect with people. He is striving with this book to open your eyes to the following: be awake to life, not asleep at the wheelfind the risks worth takingvalue what you bring to the tableresist the status quolook outside yourself and your circle and foster connections with othersget comfortable with being uncomfortably kind These are not things that are easily accomplished, it takes work. Part of this book was just OK for me. I found it difficult to connect with what Gaines was trying to say. Was he trying to brag on himself or was he really concerned about the people who would read his book? I can see this book helping the right people, and really, there is something here for everyone. I did learn a lot reading this book, I just kinda skipped over thr parts that wasn’t for me. So yeah, if this is something you have been looking for, hoping for, then I say get this book and read it! And enjoy it! A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. How Did I Get Here Finding Your Way Back to God When Everything is Pulling You Away by Christine Caine
    ibjoy1953 , July 18, 2022
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK Wow! I needed this book so much. And I think everyone does at some point in their Christian life. Sometimes life happens and we seem to go with the flow and we end up far away from what our lives should be. We have drifted away from our God without even realizing it. If you are like me and find yourself wandering, this book can help you put your like back in perspective. Author Christine Caine does a fabulous job writing this book. And I like that she tells her own story and how she was in such a deep dark place in her life. And she choose to look at her own life and realize she had fallen from her relationship with God. Through her own experience, Caine pours her heart out with the raw experiences she has faced and then her journey back to following God. It’s wasn’t always a happy journey, but through obstacles she was hit with, and the fight that she was going to follow her God, she won the fight. Tis is one of the best books I have read in a good while when it comes to teaching and showing us how to really live our lives for our Lord. I know How Did I Get Here by Christine Caine will help everyone, wherever you are in life. I’m giving How Did I Get Here by Christine Caine Five Stars! A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. Fighting for Life: Becoming a Force for Change in a Wounded World by Lila Rose
    ibjoy1953 , July 10, 2022
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK This is an awesome read. I think every Christian should read this. I really admire the work Lila Rose is doing and has been doing because she loves the babies that are about to be aborted. I loved reading about Lila Rose and her early life where she starts her prolife business in her home. From the first steps in starting her business, to her full blown business, the journey wasn’t always a fun and easy one. It is enjoyable to watch the passion of someone such as Lila Rose, and her passion leaves me wanting to help where I can. This is a beautiful book, beautifully written. Lila Rose opens up to her own weakness and tore at the hearts of her readers with her vulnerability in telling her story. I don’t know about uiu but this is something I would love to help with and help support. I encourage you to check out this book and see for yourself if it something you are interested it.

    Perfectly Placed by Liana George
    ibjoy1953 , July 07, 2022
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK  I really had fun reading Perfectly Placed, book 2 in The Hopeful Heart Series. I read book one, Perfectly Arranged when it released and I fell in love with Nicki and New Hope Orphanage. I could not wait to read this one and it did not disappoint! When Nicki returns to China to restore order at New Hope Orphanage and re-connect with the little girl who stole her heart, things were not what she expected. With everything in an uproar, Nicki had more than she bargains for.  With characters to bring the story to life, Nicki has challenges and twists and turns that were difficult for her to figure out. At time I felt like it was there alongside Nicki and the other characters trying to help them. Author Liana George, does a fabulous job writing this book. I think her  writing style is phenomenal, and I can’t wait for the next book. I love the details of China, and I think the fact that Liana George has lived in China gives her the perfect insite to explain each scene with such details. I also like that faith runs through the lives of the characters so well. If you love organizing or you need help with it, this book has a lot of tips that may help you, after all Nicki is a great  organizer . The Elegant Emu by Karen M. Bobos
    ibjoy1953 , July 06, 2022
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK #iReadBookTours THE ELEGANT EMU (a Harmony Adventure) by Karen M. Bobos is another sweet book for children to read. In this one, the three magical sisters need to enroll in an etiquette class because their manners are terrible in front of the King and Queen, and while there, they were able to learn a few more valuable lessons on life. But would these Bobos Princesses actually remember to do the things they learned? For me the worst things they did was burping and gas passing. Surely they know now this is inappropriate around the King and queen. This was a fun book to read, with the sisters and what uncommonly comes out of their mouth.  This is an amazing book for any child to read, because children pick up certain words or phrases, or maybe some bodily sounds or smells that are not the right way to act. So this is an exceptionally good way to teach your child some good etiquette. Karen M. Bobos does a phenomenal job in writing this book so children can well understand what she is saying. I love all of Bobos’ books and I think this one just might be my favorite. I encourage you to check this book out, and to also recommend it to your child’s classroom and school library as well as anyone public library. I am giving this one Five Stars. A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. This is my opinion only. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

The Secrets We Conceal: A gripping, women's fiction about child sexual abuse, healing and how love conquers all. by S. R. Fabrico
    ibjoy1953 , June 30, 2022
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK The Secrets We Conceal by S.R. Fabrico is a book about sexual abuse. I have to admit that at times, reading this story actally made me sick. Family and those we love are suppose to protect us from predators out there. Laura was a happy child, wanting to visit her cousin, but if she had only known what would happen, maybe she would have stayed home. Fabrico does a fabulous job writing this book, being sensitive to those who have dealt with this subject. I like the way she talks about abusive relationships in a way that doesn’t blame the thr one hurt. One thing I hope this book does is to encourage and help those who have been abused to speak out. Find someone you trust and talk to them. I, like others have said had many emotions reading this book. From sickness to stress, from anxiety to depression, I would just sometimes stop and cry. But this story needs to be heard. And I hope something I have said helps someone somewhere, or maybe helps a reader get the news out about this issue. I plan to see what I can do to help others. I encourage you to read this book. It’s not the best reading material, but it into the hands of others could change someone’s life. I’m giving this Five out of Five Stars!! Hope Beyond the Waves by Heidi Chiavaroli
    ibjoy1953 , June 30, 2022
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK Wow! Just Wow! Hope Beyond the Waves is an absolute amazing read! Heidi Chiavaroli digs deep into the most horrific situations in this dual timeline and writes a story that gripped my heart from the beginning and will stay with me for a long while. Emily and Atta are two young ladies, same family, different generations who loose their home and family by being carted off to the unknown because of family secrets that can no way show their ugly faces within the so called perfect families of these two young ladies. In 1993 Emily lives with her grandmother to avoid trouble with her father, and in 1916 Atta suffers so much hurt, but is no longer wanted in her home. The wonderful character fit the story so well with their deep growth throughout the story, creating wonderful personalities, in most, I should say. Emily was a little harder to get to know but I like how she grew to care more for her grandmother as she told Emily her story. I think Atta was a sweetheart, with a feisty personality. I have never heard of Penikese island and what it was used for. Dr. and Mrs. Parker were special to the island, for the hard work in the healing of the patients. M0uch of the story and some of the characters are indeed real. How cool is that! I am happy to give this book Five Stars, and it deserves so much more. A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. The opinions here are mine alone.

Bunster, an Easter Story by Christine Hwang Panzer
    ibjoy1953 , June 29, 2022
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK This sweet little book is about Bunster during Easter holiday and how he finds all of his friends to celebrate. The short story is cute for little one to have someone read to them. The illustrations are by the author as well, which I think it fabulous. They are so colorful and fit the story well. Children will love looking at each page as the story is read to them. I encourage you to check out this cute little Rabbit book to read to the little one in your life. Grace Among Thieves by Kari Bovee
    ibjoy1953 , June 29, 2022
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK I was happy to join Grace again in this third book in A Grace Michelle Mystery. I have enjoyed this series so much. This time, Grace is in the middle of stolen artifacts with her dad guilty of having something to do with it. Her dad, who she thought was dead, but he shows up after all these years, married. But with his wife kidnapped, this story takes on a new adventure as Grace takes on this case, hoping to get to the bottom of it before she is in the killers view as well. Another amazing and fun Grace story. I love meeting the new characters in this story, along with settling back with the characters I love so much from this series. I enjoyed Grace’s sleuthing skills as she goes after her dad’s wife, trying to find who has her. The journey is not an easy one at all. With all of the twists and turns popping up everywhere throughout the story, it is impossible to figure out what is really going on. Author Kari Bovee does a fantastic job writing this one. I’m giving Grace Among Thieves Five Stars! I encourage you to check this book out for your own enjoyment. A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. Grace in the Wings: A Grace Michelle Mystery by Bovee Kari
    ibjoy1953 , June 28, 2022
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK I really loved this book! Sophia and Grace Mitchell were living on the streets as young girls because their parents were both killed in an accident. They were taken in by movie producer Florenz Ziegfeld, Jr. When he found the two living on the streets near his theater. He gave them both a job and paid for everything for them growing up. In the meantime, Chet Riker finds himself in need of some work, so he asks Ziegfeld for work. That’s where he met Grace, but she was too endebted to Ziegfeld to pursue anything with anyone. But then those circumstances change after some horrific happenings that leave one murdered and someone responsible. Join Grace and the gang in this awesome read by Kara Bovée. This is one good read that I thoroughly enjoyed. Most of the characters were amazing, and I loved getting to know them as the story unfolds. Grace was my favorite of all, she had the sweetest caring personality. But on the other hand, I could hardly read about mob-boss Joe Marciano and his goonies, but the bad guys have to be there to create some action and irritate people to make the book better, don’t they? There is so much much to this story, involving Marciano and some of the others I can’t touch on it without giving part of the plot away, so you need to just read for yourself. A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone.

The Mirabal Sisters, From Caterpillars to Butterflies by Raynelda Calderon
    ibjoy1953 , June 28, 2022
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK I have never heard of The Mirabal sisters until I read this book. They were born in the Dominican Republic when the country was under rule of a dictatorship. On November 25, 1960 the sisters lost their life, and their death has gotten international coverage. In their honor, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women is observed annually on November 25. Though this book is for eight to ten year old children, there are issues here that I’m not sure I would want that age reading. I would suggest you read this for yourself before letting a child read it. Maybe you can read it to your children and ask any questions they may have. The Mirabal Sisters: From Caterpillars to Butterflies by Raynelda A. Calderon is a very sad story. I think Calderon does a really nice job writing this story simple enough for children to understand yet she adds what needs to be added to the story to make it accurate. Maria Ocampo does a fantastic job with the beautiful illustrations inside and outside of the book. A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. Love in Disguise by Penny Zeller
    ibjoy1953 , June 27, 2022
My THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK It’s been a while since I read a Penny Zeller book and I was so glad to be able to read and review this one. Thad Alexander Evanson and Emilie Crawford Wheeler both had side by side Ranches, but they have never met. Until one day in town when Thad bumped into Emilie, knocking her prize hat to the grown, never to be worn again because of its condition. Why oh why hadn’t Thad been watching the boardwalk instead of that new shinny Model T he wanted so bad, because now he has to buy this pretty lady a new hat. Emilie was frustrated at herself because now her beautiful new hat was ruined. I’ve always loved the humor in Zeller’s books, and this one is no different. From Emilie’s anger about the Rancher next door and his cows trampling her prize flowers to Thads trips to Miss Julia Mathilda’s Fine Dresses to replace Emilie’s hat, Penny Zeller had me chuckling many times. I love these fun energetic characters! Their development throughout the story make the story so realistic and encouraging. Thad’s troublesome cows and Emilie’s beautiful flowers. If you enjoy a good clean Christian fiction, you will love Love in Disguise by Penny Zeller. I love that Penny always weaves faith in the lives of her characters and makes sure she tells the way to Jesus in her stories. And she does it in a nice subtle way. I gladly give Love in Disguise Five Stars. The opinions here are my own. I was not required to write a positive review.

Stars in the Night: A WWII Romantic Suspense Novel by Cara C. Putman
    ibjoy1953 , June 25, 2022
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK  Stars in the Night gripped my heart from the beginning and wouldn’t let go. I had a lot of fun reading about 1942 Hollywood and recognizing some actors names from back in the day. Rosemary was not one of them of course, and in the story she didn’t make it happen of being a big famous star like she wanted. Rosemary’s story did not end well, which is so sad. I felt bad for Audra having to go and try to fund who killed her sister. Audra’s journey brought a lot of mystery and details to the story that makes it more believable. The characters were fabulous and I enjoyed getting to know them so much. The Hollywood Victory Caravan was a new one for me. I enjoyed reading about the Caravan and about the first Hollywood stars who used this train. It is a nice and interesting addition to the story. I always enjoy learning about things I’ve never heard of such as this. I think the author does a fabulous job weaving it into the story. As always, this story has so much more than I could ever touch on, so you need to read the book to enjoy it all and get answers. I’d you enjoy a good clean mystery, this is one you will want to read. I have happy to give Stars in the Night by Cara Putman Five Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. The Sweet Life by Suzanne Woods Fisher

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK The Sweet Life by Suzanne Woods Fisher is about Dawn and her mom. Dawn’s dad is gone and her fiancé dumps her so she is now one her groomless honeymoon with her mom. A mom who purchases an Ice Cream Shop on Cape Cod. An Ice Cream Shop that is filthy and needs lots of work. Dawn has promised to stay for a while in Cape Cod to help her mom. This book reminds me of my mom. She ate ice cream every night before bedtime. I hope your freezer is full of ice cream now. The Sweet Life is full of ice cream, Marnie and Dawn, and a host of secondary characters who make this story fun and exciting, and at the same time, unbelievable, stressful with a whole lot of work to be done to pull this Ice Cream Shop opening on time. Suzanne Woods Fisher does a fantastic job with her phenomenal writing skills in writing The Sweet Life. I thoroughly enjoyed this sweet book and if you love good, clean contemporary Christian fiction, you will love it too! I gladly give this one Five Stars! Go check it out! All That the Locusts Have Eaten by Chuck Carr
    ibjoy1953 , June 06, 2022
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK I have always wondered about the scripture All That the Locusts Have Eaten. I’ve read the scriptures in the Bible about it, heard preaches preach on it, but I’ve never had it detailed like author Chuck Carr does in his book, All That the Locusts Have Eaten: God’s Redemption Through Loss and Heartache. Carr opens up and gives readers an account of his life and everything that has happened to him in his adult life. He has gone through horrific heartache after heartache, and each one, he gets through each by his faith in God. As I read the things Carr has been though I was amazed at the strong faith he has in the Lord. I was drawn to this book because I wanted to see how he survived each tragedy he faced. This is truly a book I will keep around to go back and read sections that I need in my life. A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. A Promise Engraved: Volume 8 by Liz Tolsma
    ibjoy1953 , June 04, 2022
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK A Promise Engraved is another book in the Doors of the Past series from Barbour Books. I have enjoyed the books so far in this series and I look forward to others in the future. This one is a split time story, which I enjoyed do much. Author Liz Tolsma’s writing is phenomenal and the transition from one time period to another goes really smoothly, which is a must in these type stories. The story goes from 1836 when San Antonio, Texas is going through intense times while the Battle of the Alamo is going full swing. I really enjoyed learning about the Alamo, a subject I knew hardly anything about. Tolsma does an exceptional job of research and it shows in so many vivid details. The characters, both historical and current time are so well created and develop accurately throughout the story. If you love this type stories, you will love this one. And if you enjoy historical reads, I think you will especially enjoy the historical part here. This is such an awesome read and I gladly give it Five Stars. The Art of Traveling Strangers by Zoe Disigny
    ibjoy1953 , May 27, 2022
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK I have never been interested in art, as in wanting to purchase, but I love looking at different art of all kinds. I have several art books and this one I will keep as well because I love the story. Claire Markham sure found her niche as she was trying to find a way to get over the horrific losses she’s had lately. She embarks on a life-changing journey through the art-filled cities of Milan, Venice, Ravenna, Florence, Siena, Rome, and Paris. And what took her on that journey was when she becomes an art guide in Europe for stranger Viv Chancey. I enjoyed the journey with Viv and Claire and I enjoyed these interesting and intriguing characters. Disigny does a awesome and unique job as she writes this story in a way that will be exciting for for readers to learn about the different arts. Disigny also writes Viv and Claire’s characters into the story to cause readers to engage more into the interesting art as their journey unfolds. Not a genre I usually read but I am glad I was able to read it for this tour. This is a beautiful book inside and out and I think it is worthy of Five Stars! A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. Shadows in the Mind's Eye by Janyre Tromp
    ibjoy1953 , May 14, 2022
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK Shadows in the Mine's Eye is a wonderful debut novel by Janyre Tromp . From the very beginning the story has twists and turns that will throw you mind off goodtime. Just when you think you have everything under control, something else happens and you are back at square one. I finally realized I would never figure anything out right and just enjoyed reading to the end. And that I did. I felt so bad for Sam because no one believed him, so that meant everyone thought he was crazy. Even his wife. The PTSD that hit him when he got home from the war was leaning on him goodtime. Tromp does a nice job giving the vivid details of each scene, and this shows the extent of research she did before writing the book. There are many dark moments in the book, sometimes it is hard to read, but the story flows pretty good and those dark times you need to read to understand the story. And boy was it an ending you won't forget for a while. It may not be a good idea to finish the book in the middle of the night like I did. There is a lot of stuff going on in Shadows in the Mine's Eye by Janyre Tromp. Not only the twists and turns but a few surprises in the end as well. My only thing with the story is, I feel the author used God's name inappropriate a number of times throughout the story and that bothers me. Other than that, it is a really great debut for the author. If you enjoy a good suspense/mystery, you will really enjoy this one.

A Rose for the Resistance by Angela K. Couch
    ibjoy1953 , May 13, 2022
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK I have enjoyed each book in the Heroines of WWII Series so far, and A Rose for the Resistance was another awesome read in this series from Barbour Books. Rosalie lives in France until the Nazis arrived, changing their life forever.  Angela K. Couch does such a nice job with this book. The writing is phenomenal, and I loved getting to know the characters and watch them grow as the story unfolds. I really enjoyed getting to know both Rosalie and Franz. I love Franz’s kind and caring personality, and the way he looked after and took care of Rosalie’s family. And though this book is fiction, I am sure she has captured many of the things ladies had to deal with during the war with Nazi’s and occupied France. Sometimes it is easy to forget the women and children and what they endure during wars, and the many that loose their lives as well. I appreciate the way Couch gives us vivid historical details of this War. If you enjoy WWII stories, you will really like this one! A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. The Rancher's Wyoming Twins: A Clean Romance by Virginia McCullough
    ibjoy1953 , May 01, 2022
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK  Heather dreaded going back to her home town but she really doesn’t have a choice. Her best friend is getting married and there is no way she will let her down. So her plans are to sneak in and sneak back out before she sees him! But will her plans work?  I always enjoy Virginia McCullough’s book and this one is at the top of my list. Adelaide Creek is homey and enjoyable. Matt works hard running his ranch as well as raising his late sister’s twins. McCullough writing is  phenomenal and I love how she creates her characters to be so realistic. Of course the adorable twins are my favorites in this story. And between the twins and her attraction to Matt Burton, it just might be difficult for Heather to sneak in and out of her hometown as she wanted to do. This is a sweet story to read if you love sweet and clean contemporary romance.  A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. Peace in the Mountain Haven by Misty M. Beller
    ibjoy1953 , April 23, 2022
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK Peace in the Mountain Haven is yet another book in the exciting Call of the Rockies series from Misty Beller. This one is book seven. I was so happy to visit with some old friends in this series as well as meeting new and exciting in this story. Hugh Charpentier is to help a woman and her six year old down the rough and rugged Rockie Mountains. Watkuese is determined to find her way back down the mountain. Follow their journey as these almost strangers struggle to find their way. I loved this journey even though some of the scenes were so hard to read about because the way was so treacherous at times. Sometimes I found it hard to put this book down, I was so engrossed in the story. Beller has no trouble keeling the attention of her readers, and she does a fantastic job in this one. Peace in the Mountain Haven is another favorite of mine and I sure hope there is a book eight! A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. Counterfeit Love by Crystal Caudill
    ibjoy1953 , April 13, 2022
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK Counterfeit Love is an amazing Debut novel. This story reads as someone who is well seasoned in writing books. I love that Caudill immediately hits on several genre’s with a historical background and lots of mystery and flowing through the pages. And I can’t forget the oh so sweet romance!! I love the realistic characters that are so masterfully created and I love how they grow so much as the story unfolds. I think Teresa is my favorite, and maybe Broderick coming in for a close second? I really like Teresa’s feisty spirit because she won’t back down from anyone. And that’s what I like. I did feel for both characters as they dug deeper and deeper into Teresa’s grandfather’s secrets. That was a tough blow. I also love that Caudill wasn’t afraid to weave the Christian life into the lives of her characters. And it’d done in such a beautiful and subtle way. I am so intrigued about this book. And I can’t wait for the second book in this series to release. Yes! A second book, what fun! If you are interested in any of these genre’s here, you will surely love this book. I encourage you to check out Counterfeit Love by Crystal Caudill. ibjoy1953 , April 12, 2022
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK Love’s Fortress by Jennifer Uhlarik is another book in the Doors of the Past series from Barbour Books. I enjoyed this story very much, even though it took me a while to get into the story. I felt bad for Dani. She knows nothing about her father’s life or any possessions he might have. These two characters, along with the other characters learn well as the story unfolds. Uhlarik does well in her research for the book. I like that the story switches between modern and historical times. This takes so great writing skills and not everyone can pull it off but Jennifer Uhlarik does a nice job. Readers who enjoy both historical and present times reads will enjoy this book. Also someone who enjoys reading about the history of Indian’s perhaps would enjoy this one. The Pilate Scroll by M. B. Lewis
    ibjoy1953 , April 04, 2022
My Thoughts On This Book M.B. Lewis writes an interesting, intriguing and informative Christian thriller that will have your head spinning by the time you finish the book. This is one I could not put down for long. It is an adventurous journey with everyone looking for the same thing, an ancient relic that could change the course of history. Lewis creates unique and intriguing characters that tell his story so well, bringing the story to life before your eyes. And everything is so realistic, I felt pulled into the story on several accounts. I did enjoy following their journey. But would the ancient relic be found? Another thing I love about this story is the vivid historical and Biblical views and scenes as well as the scripture quoted in this book. It’s not hard to see the deep research the author does to better the story. I also had fun with the twists and turns that happened, changing my mind and looking for another. There is so much to tell about this book, but I can’t giveaway too much. I encourage you to read this book, I’m sure your library had it. Can’t wait for you to read this one too! Hush Hush: A Shane Cleary Mystery by Gabriel Valjan
    ibjoy1953 , April 04, 2022
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK  HUSH HUSH by Gabriel Valjan is my first book by this author. Set in the 1970’s in Boston, Valjan gives readers insight of what life was like for many during that Era. The characters were spot on and though most of them were a rough bunch, I did enjoyed the way they grew and developed as the story unfolds. Author Gabriel Valjan is a phenomenal writer. Different than most authors I read, and he does an amazing job with the dialogue, a little rough talk at times but that fits the story well. I did like Shane Cleary, the unlicensed PI, but a sharp PI that. I found that much of the story is so realistic today, especially on the racial issues. And Valjan doesn’t back off from telling it like it is. I think you will enjoy this story if you enjoy a good mystery as well as taking a trip back to the good old 1970 and some of the hard core memories of Boston’s streets. Beyond Her Calling by Kellyn Roth
    ibjoy1953 , March 31, 2022
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK I have thoroughly enjoyed this series so much. Kellyn Roth is a phenomenal writer, and I love her writing style. Beyond Her Calling is Ivy’s story. She is somewhat confused about what she should do. And after a lot of prayer she ends up at the McCale House on Scotland. Little did she know she would meet Jordy and Claire, and they would soon be her friends. Life was not easy for this trio, especially Ivy. I could relate to Ivy with some things. My heart went out to her a lot in this book. I plan on reading this book and the entire series again soon. I love the characters and how they develop throughout the book. In this book, Ivy had a lot to learn and sometimes it wasn’t always easy. But it was fun following her, and I love the trip to Scotland. With Roth’s high in research and phenomenal detailed writing of each scene, this story pulled me in so deep that I felt like I was right there in Scotland with them. I love that about this book. I also love how Roth has her characters live the Christian life throughout the book. I love Ivy’s love for the Lord and his she wants to serve Him. And she does this in such a subtle way. Beyond Her Calling is one you do not want to miss. A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. At Her Fingertips by Kellyn Roth
    ibjoy1953 , March 31, 2022
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK I am really enjoying this series by Kellyn Roth. Today I am reviewing the third book in The Chronicles of Alice and Ivy series, At Your Fingertips. Alice is expecting a marriage proposal, and within the year. This is her coming out year and she shouldn’t have to wait too awful long for that handsome Mr. Someone to fall head over hills with her and ask for her hand in marriage. But we will see about that. I love these characters. Alice is just adorable. I love her personality, and Peter is just plain handsome. But Peter is not her first pick, but being a Christian pushes him closer to the top of her list.I love that Roth weaves a strong Christian relationship into her characters lives. And never fear, it’s not preachy at all; it is quite subtle. This is an awesome read. The historical scenes are so intriguing and interesting. Kellyn Roth is a phenomenal writer. Her research is well known because of the vivid id details throughout the entire book. If you enjoy historical Christian fiction, I highly recommend this book for you. At Your Fingertips gets Five Stars for me. Wish I could give it more. A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. Ivy Introspective by Kellyn Roth
    ibjoy1953 , March 30, 2022
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK Ivy and her twin sister were so different. Alice was very active and into many activities. Ivy was more of a home body. When their biological parents remarried, even her dad was a stranger. It was then that her uncle and grandmother put her in a school where kids go that have trouble. After a while, Ivy started enjoying herself, that is until she heard the screams at night. And Ivy had no idea what was going on or who the girl was. Would she ever find out? Would Ivy even try to find the girl? Kellyn Roth writes another fantastic novel with a cast of wonderful engaging characters that will stay with you for a while. Ivy was such a sweet girl, and I liked her immediately. I was glad to see she was put in a place that had people to really care for her. Some places are not that nice, they more or less treat the children like a number. I think Ms. Roth knocked this one out of the ball park. To me, Ivy Introspective was an amazing read that I give Five Stars. A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I Celebrate My Voice: It is Limitless by Nonku Kunene Adumetey
    ibjoy1953 , March 30, 2022
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK This is a very good book about teaching your child that they have a voice and that voice is limited. I like that the author points out that no matter who you are, to use your voice in the best way possible. I can think of several times that children haven’t been encouraged in this, and the child missed out on so much. I think it’s pretty awesome that this author let’s children know how important they are, no matter who they are, where they came from, these things doesn’t matter, what matters is that you use your talents they way they are ment to be used. Cindi's Chocolate Valentine: Volume 4 by Beverley Reichman
    ibjoy1953 , March 15, 2022
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK Cindi’s Chocolate Valentine by Beverley Reichman is a very cute book about a dog, Cindi. Her people parents dressed Cindi and her kitty friend Pitti Pat up for Valentines day, and I’ll tell you, they didn’t like it so much. Especially if Chip was gonna be there. But if he was, Cindi might just change her mind about this pink and red with chocolate Holiday. I love this book and I think children will as well when they see this adorable dog on the cover. And on the inside this book is even more beautiful. Janine Rhodes does a fabulous job with the bright vivid illustrations throughout this book. I love the colors and I think your child will sure pick this one for Valentines Day. This would be awesome for school and daycare libraries as well. Bentley's Best Birthday EVER! by Claire Eckard
    ibjoy1953 , March 14, 2022
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK I love, love Bentley. This is the second Bentley book by Claire Eckard I’ve read, and this big giant of a dog stole my heart early into reading the first book. Tomorrow is Bently’s birthday and he wants all of his friends there, but cant find them. All of his friends want to surprise Bentley, but where in the world will they find something big enough? Is your child having a birthday soon? What an adorable book that you can get for them about a big dog celebrating his Birthday with his friends. And this book is for either boys or girls because every child loves dogs. This birthday party book should be read at every child’s birthday, to brighten their day and to add some extra fun to their big day. And Anne York does a fabulous job with these wonderful Illustrations. I love how the colors are so brilliantly bright and colorful. The pictures on each page bring the story to life as you read it to your child or children. I very highly recommend this one. I’m giving Bentley’s Best Birthday Ever! by Claire Eckard Five Stars. Your child’s library needs this. This book would also be an amazing book for any elementary classroom or library as well as any day care center. Labyrinth of Lies by Irene Hannon
    ibjoy1953 , March 12, 2022
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK Cate Reilly, St. Louis County detective cannot believe she is going undercover again since she vowed after her first undercover job was finished, it was her last. But here she is again, because she is the only one who fits the job description. A high profile businessman’s daughter is missing from Ivy Hill Academy, an exclusive girls’ boarding school, and he wants his daughter found. So Cate is there as a student to get information, but why is her ex-boyfriend Zeke there as undercover as well? There must be more going on at the Academy than they knew about. As always, Irene Hannon writes another romantic suspense that will have you on the edge of your seats, biting your nails with every detailed scene in this book. I could not put this book down, I finished it in the middle of the night. The suspense is so intense you find yourself so planted into the story, it feels as if you are there living among the characters. Hannon does an amazing job creating the cast of characters for this book, they are so realistic, and develop well as the story unfolds. I love and appreciate the element of faith in God running throughout the story and in such a subtle way. There is so much in this story that you need to read the book. If you love a good, clean, Christian romantic suspense story, this is the one for you. I encourage you to check out Labyrinth of Lies by Irene Hannon. “This book was provided courtesy of Revell through Interviews & Reviews.”

    Magdelena's Choice by Molly Jebber
    ibjoy1953 , February 16, 2022
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK Magdelena and Toby want nothing more than to be able to court each other and later marry. But with Toby’s dad very sick and the hours he works, it seems almost impossible. So when new neighbors move in with a son Magdelena’a age, her dad decides he is a better fit for Magdelena, especially since his family has money. But she doesn’t care about money, but neither dad nor Zach can get that through their heads. I felt so bad for Magdelena. Her parents, Zach and his parents acted so immature. I didn’t care for Zach’s attitude at all. It wasn’t even believable for him to jump into the family and act like he was taking over. For me, this part of the storyline took entirely too much time. In fact it dragged on at the point of being boring. I’m sorry, I love Molly Jebber’s books, but this one was too slow for me for a while, then it gets better. I loved Magdelena and Toby. I love Toby’s dedication to his dad. And their romance was so very sweet. Toby is a sweetheart and I hope to her from him more in the next books if there are more. I have thoroughly enjoyed these five books in the series. If you enjoy Amish reads, this is one you should try. This one is Four Stars for me. High-Wire Heartbreak by Anna Schmidt
    ibjoy1953 , February 09, 2022
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK I enjoyed split-time stories and I especially enjoyed this one because it brings in the Ringling Brother Circus. My dad use to take us to this Circus ever year when it came through town so I always love a good Circus story. I enjoyed Chloe’s story and her determination to find out more about her family going back decades. It was fun following Chloe on her journey and I enjoyed the back story of the Circus. It gives me an even more enjoyable time thinking about the Circus years ago. Anna Schmidt does an amazing job of writing this story, I love the vivid details of both timelines. And the research Schmidt had to do for this book is impressive, and she does a fabulous job creating the characters. Chloe really drew me into the story as she started digging deep into her family history, revealing things about her family. There is so much to this story, you need to read this book for yourself and enjoy it. I’m giving this one Five Stars. I have read several books by Anna Schmidt and I will surely check out her future books. A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. Abbie's Woods: Defending the Nest by Susan Thogerson Maas
    ibjoy1953 , February 08, 2022
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK I love Abbie’s Woods. I think the author does a fantastic job of dealing with issues children and dealing with everyday. Abbie’s favorite place was in the woods near her house where she can get away from the problems that plague her family. If your child or children you know is dealing with tough issues in their life, this is a perfect book to get for them. Even though they may be dealing with different issues, Abbie’s Woods will help them in ways they didn’t know before. I encourage you to check this one out. I’m giving this one Four Stars. MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK Luke was home after an injury, and he walked into the B and B to find that his old flame had taken over; she now has triplets. But did she have a husband? Would this have an effect on his coming back to his hometown? Searching for Home by Jill Weatherholt is a Love Inspired sweet story of forgiveness and second chances. I loved the flawed characters and the way they developed and wanted to better themselves as the story unfolds. There was some harsh baggage that had to be dealt with, a lot of emotions flying around. But isn’t that like real life? This story is so realistic. These characters are so realistic. And those twins stole my heart. You need to read this one. Now That I Know You by Olivia Newport
    ibjoy1953 , January 24, 2022
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK Now That I Know You is only this 2nd book I have read in this series. It looks like I have some catching up to do. But this book is fine reading as a standalone. The only slip time books I connect with are the authors that can smoothly slip between historical and contemporary eras and perfectly connect the two storylines. Well, have no fear; Olivia Newport does this effortlessly. I so much enjoyed the characters from each era and enjoyed the ties between the characters. My grandma was born in the early 1900’s so I couldn’t help wishing she were here so I could ask if her family went through similar rough times. I think Newport handles the historical parts very well, and readers can tell the amount of research she does by the vivid scenes throughout the book. I love the attention to details and development of the plot and characters as the story unfolds. Now That I Know You is Five Stars for me. I highly recommend this book to everyone! You will love it. Elinor: A Riveting Story Based on the Lost Colony of Roanoke by Shannon McNear
    ibjoy1953 , January 18, 2022
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK Author Shannon McNear writes about and era and a bit of history I have only heard of, but knew nothing at all about this time in history. The Colony of Roanoke Island is a different kind of story for me. The horriffic things these settlers had to face, yet the joy of finding their own home and way of life. This was before America was discovered and there were quite a few different Indian settlers that wasn’t happy to have then around. I think McNear does a wonderful job of research it takes to write an amazing story such as this one. The emotions of this story will have you turning the pages until the very end because you want to find what happens next. If you are interested in the Lost Colony of Roanoke, this is an awesome book to read to see what it might have been all those centuries ago. This one is a Five Stars for me. I encourage you to check out this book for yourself. It is well worth the hours it takes to her this one.

Sometimes When I'm Mad by Deborah Serani
    ibjoy1953 , January 18, 2022
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK  Sometimes When I’m Mad by Deborah Serani is a really cute fantastic book that teaches children what to do and how to change their feelings when they are feeling mad. One of the things papa tells is little girl to do when she feels mad is to lay down for a while, and she does, and it makes her feel better. There are many more examples in the book and with the help of her mom, grandma, grandpa and teacher, this little girl gets help that makes her feel better. I think this book is good for any child at any age. Everyone feels mad at times, and the valuable lessons in the book can be helpful for anyone. Serani dies a fabulous job writing this book, teaching lessons that are so valuable to learn. The sweet and beautiful illustrations by Kyra Teis brings this story to life on the pages as each page fits perfectly together. I love that the colors fit so well with the mood of each page in this book. I really adore this hardcover book and I encourage you to pick up this book for your child. I feel this will also go very well in elementary school library as well as daycare libraries. This is definitely one you want your child to have. I’m giving this one Five Stars! Heart Adrift A Novel by Laura Frantz
    ibjoy1953 , January 04, 2022
A Heart Adrift  By Laura Frantz –  Five Stars I haven’t read a Laura Frantz book for a while so I was more than thrilled with the chance to read A Heart Adrift. The amazing book cover drew me in from the beginning. Isn’t it just stunning? And now for the story. Set in 1755 colonial York, Va., Chocolatier Esmée Shaw runs her mom’s Chocolate shop. I love her character because she has such a caring personality, always willing to help those in need. And always thinking of her old fame Henri and wonder if she will ever see him again. Will the war, the distance and the years keep the two apart forever? Esmée is just the sweetest. I enjoyed getting to know her so much, and oh my, all that Chocolate! I could literally smell the chocolate as I read this book. Henri had to grow on me somewhat, but I found that the two are just perfect together. The attention to vivid details takes this book to a different level. Author Laura Frantz does a fantastic job of research as well as creating wonderful characters and writing a story her readers will not soon forget. I can’t seem to get Esmée and Henri off my mind. I am sure I will be reading this one again in the near future. I think anyone who enjoys a good clean historical fiction with elements of faith running through will love this book. A Hearts Adrift by Laura Frantz deserves Five Stars from me.  This book was provided courtesy of Revell through Interviews & Reviews for my honest opinion.

His Road to Redemption: An Uplifting Inspirational Romance by Lisa Jordan
    ibjoy1953 , January 04, 2022
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK  Micah has avoided home for so long because he doesn’t think his family wants him there, but the death of his neighbor brings him home again, despite what the family thinks. Surprisingly, his neighbor leaves Micah enough to fulfill his longtime dreams, but there’s a catch to it that Micah is not sure he can fulfill. Working with Paige on the goat farm isn’t something he really cares to do. I have really enjoyed Lisa Jordan’s books in the past, and this one is another awesome read by Jordan. I love that her characters have that realistic feeling, seeming like part of our family. As the story unfolds, the other and the characters develop so well. I really like the prodigal son story that was Micha. He is definitely not the person who left so long ago after loosing his mother. But he needs to prove this to everyone in order to feel accepted. Paige has her shaded past as well. These two have their work cut out for them. And for me it was so much fun to follow Paige and Micah as their lives begin to change and their relationship developed. I love books that offer second chances and this one is an awesome read!! I’m giving His Road to Redemption by Lisa Jordan Five Stars. A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. Saving Mrs. Roosevelt: WWII Heroines by Candice Sue Patterson
    ibjoy1953 , December 22, 2021
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK Saving Mrs. Roosevelt, by Candice Sue Patterson, is another story in the Heroines of WWII series from Barbour Publishing. Before reading this book, I didn’t know about the WWII women’s Coast Guard Reserve, which are called SPARs. I found it very interesting reading about what these women do to help during WWII. In this book, the mission was to save Mrs. Roosevelt from the harm that was coming her way. Shirley plays her part well as she was thought to be dishonorable discharge to uncover a plot against Mrs. Roosevelt. But can Shirley really trust those she is working for? I enjoy reading books about the First Ladies and this is one that will stay with me. The characters were so realistic, I loved reading this interesting story. The plot was well thought out and flows well, with enough interest to keep me reading to the very end. If you enjoy reading about our first ladies, this is a really good one to start with. I give this one four stars. A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK Mother’s Love: Animal moms and their babies by Diana Aleksandrova is the cutest book about the how much a mother loves her babies. Whether it be animals of all kinds, wild and tame, or the mother of a human little baby, a Mother’s Love is the same. I love reading the outpouring of love on each page with the moms showing so much love to their babies.  Svilen Dimitrov creates beautiful illustrations for the cover and each page. MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK  The Living Christmas Tree by Kristin Sponaugle is such a cute book about a Christmas tree. The special thing about this tree is that during the day the ornaments are quiet and still, but as soon as the family is asleep, the ornaments on the tree come to life. ibjoy1953 , December 18, 2021
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK  Gallant: The Call of the Trail by Claire Eckard is such a sweet story. Kinda sad at first though because Gracie and her horse Gallant were separated by a bad accident. The horse and girl had a special relationship that’s different from most. But this story does have a fabulous ending because Gracie and Gallant are given a second chance. What a special story to read. With characters that will steal your heart quickly. I was so happy for these two and the way their story ends. I find this story fun and enjoyable to read. I have always heard about close  relationships between horses and their owners and this book gives readers a sweet story that’s brings this to life. Claire Eckard does an amazing job writing this sweet book and I look forward to read more books by this author in the future. This is a middle grade read but good for adults as well. Why not pick up a copy for yourself for a few hours of wonderful entertainment. Keeping Christmas Magic by Gunnar Counselman and Anna Counselman
    ibjoy1953 , December 12, 2021
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK  Keeping Christmas Magic by Anna and Gunnar Counselman is the real story behind Santa Clause. It tells the story from the beginning in a simple childlike way. I love that the illustrations really bring this story to life on each page with beautiful water color pictures.  However, I wouldn’t let smaller children read this book, or I wouldn’t read this to small children because of its message. I think the book advice is 8 years old and up. But I encourage you to read the book first to see if the age is appropriate for your child.  Keeping Christmas Magic is a beautiful book, even though the cover is a quite plain. The hardcover book is high quality and well put together. This is a great book for older children. A book that I am keeping in my library. Cool Kids by Arlene Freeman
    ibjoy1953 , December 10, 2021
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK What a special book to read to your children. Cool Kids by Arlene Freeman. This author does a fantastic job of teaching children valuable lessons in this book. Michael is at a new school, and while this is difficult enough, he also wants to play football. The only thing with playing football he would need to be a bully just like the other players are. And soon this get to be a problem because Michael notices changes in himself he doesn’t like. Bullying has had is ugly effect on our extended family. One of my cousins 12 year old granddaughters took her life several years ago mainly because of bullying. I love to promote any book such as this that let’s kids know what happens when you treat others badly. I think Cool Kids by Arlene Freeman should be in every school classroom and in libraries so kids of all ages have an opportunity to check it out. And I love the illustrations Amelina Jones so beautiful created to fit the pages of this book so beautifully. The colors, characters are so adorable. The book cover is sure to draw children to the bookshelves. I encourage you to pick up a copy of this book for your child’s library. A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. Alicia Connected: Tricked With Treats by Derek Fisher
    ibjoy1953 , December 08, 2021
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK We hear from Alicia again in this sweet book, Alicia Connected: Tricked with Treats by Derek Fisher. This time Alicia and friends are talking about the party they will have in TullyTown, after all Alicia is getting use to her tablet. But what happens if trouble shows up. The internet can be risky. Alicia and her friends, Megan, Ben and Cathy enjoy a game TullyTown and try to earn TullyBux to buy things with. But their game was stolen because they forgot to me careful and secure their site, they lost everything. I love that this chapter book teaches children the dangers of the internet. There is so much good stuff on the internet we sometimes forget the bad people out there. I love books such as this one telling of valuable lessons, and this one is about being safe and careful when using the internet. If you have children, this book is a must for you. I would also love to see this one in every elementary school and every daycare. A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. The Amish Outcast's Holiday Return: An Uplifting Inspirational Romance by Lacy Williams
    ibjoy1953 , November 14, 2021
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK Author Lacy Williams writes a heartwarming Holiday read in The Amish Outcast’s Holiday Return. I admire Zach for coming back to Lacy’s family farm to seek forgiveness in a wrong he had done. I think this shows his true character and I really like and appreciate him a lot. Being the sweet caring person she is, Grace wouldn’t hold anything against Zach and would offer her forgiveness, just as her dad did. I enjoyed this cast of characters and the way the author writes them to be so realistic, growing them as the story unfolds. I feel this is such a great story for this time of year, going into the Holiday season because it shows love, grace and forgiveness as people often do, more so than any other time of year. After all Jesus is the real reason for the season of Christmas and we should strive to show more of His love for everyone. This is a fabulous book to read in the mist of all of the Christmas rush! Texas Timbers by Caryl McAdoo
    ibjoy1953 , November 14, 2021
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK You just can’t go wrong reading a Caryl McAdoo book. I always know I am in for a good Historical Christian Romance read whenever I pick up a book of Miss Caryl’s. In Texas Timbers, we find Autumn and her dreams, and she just knows Sean is the man for her because of the times he has been in her dreams, but Sean is not so sure about that. I love that McAdoo gives us solid characters that develop so well throughout the story. The story flows well and I had fun reading from start to finish. The historic Texas setting gives a feel of what the this historical place in Texas is all about. Of course there is so much more to this story that you don’t want to miss. I encourage you to check out this story my Caryl McAdoo and while you are at it, check out all of her other amazing reads. A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. Honor in the Mountain Refuge by Misty M. Beller
    ibjoy1953 , November 13, 2021
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK I love anything Misty Beller writes. I was introduced to Misty soon after I started reviewing for Celebrate Lit and have read all of her books since. Honor in the Mountain Refuge is the sixth book in the Call of the Rockies series. I am so glad Telípe is finally getting her own story. She is such a brave character and I love the attraction between she and Chogan. In the scene of the wildcat, Chogan wants so bad to prove himself capable of Telípe and how much he loves her. Misty Beller does a fantastic job writing this book, her characters are so realistic, and by this sixth book, I feel they are now part of my family. I also love and appreciate the way Beller weaves the gospel within the story in the life’s of her characters. And with Honor in the Mountain Refuge especially that we saw some of the sweet character come to know our Lord and Savior. But no worries, this is done in such a subtle smooth way it doesn’t offend. A Secret Christmas Wish: A Clean Romance by Cathy McDavid
    ibjoy1953 , November 11, 2021
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK  I thoroughly enjoyed this sweet clean romance by Cathy McDavid. I have to admit I’ve never heard of a business like Your Perfect Plus One, where you can hire dates for weddings. Maia and Brent met at a wedding where each were hired to go as someone’s date. Little did Maia know that her dad has hired Brent to work at her family’s Mountainside Stables. Having left the rodeo circuit and roaming around for two years, Brent didn’t feel he would every be good enough for Maia, despite their attraction. Especially with his deep depression episodes he was having. But Maia thought different. Especially after the way Brent was with her son TJ. This story was fun and interesting to read because of the insecurities of Brent and the doubts Maia’s dad and sister have about Brent. I seem to have the tendicity to go for the guys like Brent, so I liked him from the start, and I admired him throughout the story for his progress at helping himself. I loves his interaction with TJ and the way TJ loved Brent. The characters are well create and I enjoyed their growth in the story, especially TJ, he was precious.  The storyline was well written and developed well as the story unfolds. This is a sweet story you can read during the Christmas season. I am giving The Secret Christmas Wish four stars.    A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. Ponce: What Actually Happened at the Fountain of Youth by Jim Halverson
    ibjoy1953 , November 08, 2021
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS  Having read Wilderness Spa by Jim Halverson, I was glad when Ponce came up for review. Ponce: What Actually Happened at the Fountain of Youth by Jim Halverson is filled with historical events and the retelling of Ponce de Leon searching the Fountain of Youth. The story is expertly brought to life by Halverson from the pages found that were written by Ponce de Leon’s chronicler in a dry limestone cave in the northwest panhandle. Though I really did enjoy the story and it’s characters, I have to admit I was bored at times. It’s not about the writing, this is a very well written book, I guess this part in history is not my thing. One thing for sure, Halverson clearly does a lot of research before writing this book, and it shows in the detailed scenes throughout the book. If you are a history buff you will find yourself enjoying this story. I highly recommend this story to anyone enjoying a good book with lots of history. A Magical Halloween: (Mom's Choice Gold Award Winner) by Karen M. Bobos
    ibjoy1953 , November 07, 2021
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK BOBOS BABES ADVENTURES: A MAGICAL HALLOWEEN is the second book I’ve read by Karen M. Bobos, and both books have been a delight to read. A MAGICAL HALLOWEEN is about three Bobo’s friends and their new Halloween costumes for this year. But when they finally opened the box where the mask were in, they were sad that all three had a clear mask. Now everyone would see then, but then as they put their mask on, something magical happens. And you need to read the book to find out what it is. A Magical Halloween is a perfect addition to the Bobo’s Babes collection. This is a must read for children everywhere as Halloween approaches in 2021. The rhyming story is exciting and fun and the illustrations are so very adorable. I love how each page perfectly fits the story. This book with illustrations bringing the story to life is five Stars for me. I know your children will love this as much as the children in my life do. Trusting the Rancher with Christmas: A Clean Romance by Cari Lynn Webb
    ibjoy1953 , November 04, 2021
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK  I love all Cari Lynn Webb books and this one is so amazing. I love the characters, especially Evan and Paige. They are both so sure about not wanting a relationship, it interesting to watch them together. And Riley is by far my favorite character. She is such a sweetheart. The ranch setting is wonderful and makes me want to live on a ranch, with the warm cozy feeling of the ranch house and all of the animals. I found the veterinarian information interesting to know, and Paige was good and so passionate with her job as a vet. Since this setting takes place during the Christmas holiday, there’s a lot of excitement about Christmas decorating and activities. I love all of the decorations. I have always decorated a lot for Christmas and this fit right in with my love of Christmas and it’s festive mood. I’m giving Trusting the Rancher with Christmas by Cari Lynn Webb Five Stars. I can’t wait to read the next book in this sweet series. If you enjoy sweet heartwarming romance that are clean, fun and entertaining to read, I highly recommend this one. A Picture of Hope by Liz Tolsma
    ibjoy1953 , November 01, 2021
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK Nellie‌ ‌Wilkerson wants to show the world what is really happening behind the scenes in WWII, and being a photographer‌, she is determined to do just that. But she needs the help of Jean-Paul, and the two find more than they ever dreamed one their journey. Helping nuns and an orphanage of children with disabilities can be challenging, but determination kept them going. I like Nellie’s strong personality and the fact she would stop at nothing to get the pictures she wanted to send to America. The twists and turns make the story even more intriguing and enjoyable. I enjoyed getting to know the characters more as the story unfolds, though at times it’s not easy reading the issues happening. I like how Tolsma brings to story to life weaving the facts and fiction together.I like that Liz Tolsma writes about children with Downs Syndrome, and the delegate way she writes them into the story, even though it is a difficult issue to discuss. I’m thankful to Barbour and these authors who are bringing to life these heroines and their stories. If you enjoy stories set in the WWII Era, you will enjoy A Picture of Hope. This one is Five Stars for me. A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. Measure, Mix & Marinate: Embracing the Key Ingredients to a More Fulfilling Life by Cheryl Schuberth
    ibjoy1953 , October 31, 2021
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK  This is a really interesting book to read. Author Cheryl Schuberth takes a look at her life and decides to slow down a bit and give her life a much more meaning. Throughout the book, using different countries she lets readers know of her frustrations and some tips on how to overcome these issues. There are lots of life changing tips in the book, some I’ve heard of, some not. I think this book would be wonderful addition to any library and I plan to add this one to mine. There are many recipes throughout this book as well, some of them sound so very good, I do want to try a number of the recipes. They sound so good and tasty. I encourage you to give this book a try. I think you will love it. I’m giving Measure Mix and Marinate four stars from me.  A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. Deadly Target by Elizabeth Goddard
    ibjoy1953 , October 25, 2021
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK Criminal Psychologist Erin Larson’s life is shattered when she is almost killed in a boating accident. And while she is still in shock from the accident, she gets a call that her mom attempted suicide, so she moves to Montana to take care of her mom. Meanwhile Detective Nathan Campbell and his dad are fishing, and his dad is trying to tell him top secret stuff when he is gunned down. But that’s not all. In her usual expertise in writing romantic suspense and mystery, author Elizabeth Goddard writes another heart stopping, edge of your seat thriller that will have you biting your nails as you turn the pages. I love Erin and Nathan, and wanted so much for them to find love again. I love the bits of attraction and sparks flying with they are together. All of the characters are fantastic and play their parts so well in each scene throughout the story. The story is so good, kept going back re-reading parts of the story. There are twists and turns taking the story different directions, but the one big twist toward the end, I did not see that coming at all! What an amazing job Ms. Goddard does with the ending. And I think weaving the Christian life in the lives of her characters made this story even more enjoyable for me. I’m giving Deadly Target Five Stars. If you enjoy a good suspense, you will love this one. Thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone.

    Riverbend Gap by Denise Hunter
    ibjoy1953 , October 19, 2021
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK Katelyn and Cooper met when her car veered off a winding Appalachian Mountain road and Cooper came by just in time. Immediately they were both attracted to each other, but little did he know that Katelyn is the one his brother has been dating. So that made her off limits, despite the fact that his brother kept pushing them together. And the chemistry between the two keeps growing. Which makes for an interesting and entertaining read from author Denise Hunter. Riverbend Gap is such an amazing story. It is so emotional and a heartbreaking but yet heartwarming read. I really felt bad for Copper and Katelyn because they truly cared for each other, but Copper would never hurt his brother. I love the family setting and the quaint village with the Appalachian Mountain nearby. The characters are so very realistic, they felt like family to me. With the excellent writing skills of the author, the plot runs smoothly, the emotions of the family drama would not let me put this book down. There is so much more to this story but I’ll not give it away, so you need to read it for yourself. I’m giving Riverbend Gap Five Stars and its worth every one. If you love a good clean romance with faith weaved into the lives of the characters, I encourage you to checkout this new read from Denise Hunter. You will love it as much as I do. A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. The opinions here are mine alone.

The Single Dad's Holiday Match: A Clean Romance by Tanya Agler
    ibjoy1953 , October 12, 2021
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK Brooke Novak starts her new job in Hollydale  at the community center as the director, but she has her work cut out for her. The center is rundown and her job is to make it shine in the community again within six months. Things are not off to a good start, with officer Jonathan coming around so much in reference to a case he is working on. But then he is easy on the eyes and easy to talk to, so coming around could be a good thing. I really did enjoy this sweet romance by Tanya Agler. I enjoyed watching the characters as they grew as the story unfolds. I quickly fell in love with Jonathan and Brooke and their personalities. There’s a bit of mystery going on here as well,  that kept officer Jonathan on his toes. The mystery will keep folks reading, but so will the romance. We have to find out all of the details with Jonathan and Brooke. And Tanya Agler does just that in this story. I love her attention to detail in describing the different scenes, and in the personalities of each character. I can’t wait to read what’s next from Agler. The Single Dad’s Holiday Match is the first book in her new series, Smoky Mountain First Responders. I love that the series is set in the quaint little town of Hollydale and we could see what was happening in the lives of former character from the first series. If you enjoy contemporary sweet Romances with a touch of mystery, you will love this one. This review is my own personal opinion.

What's Not True by Valerie Taylor
    ibjoy1953 , October 12, 2021
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK  My thoughts when reading this book were, ‘Oh what a tangled web we weave’ because Kassie’s story is just that. Her life choices leads her into one bad issue after another. When she finally decides she is going to divorce her husband, she had the bomb dropped on her that her husband has a serious illness, no divorce wouldn’t look so well right now. Kassie is so back and forth with everything happening in her life, it’s hard to keep up with what she will do next and what the next issue will be. I would get frustrated at Kassie for being so wishy washy at times. For some reason, I just couldn’t connect with Kassie. Not to say the author didn’t do a good job creating characters, in fact the character were wonderfully created and I enjoyed their development as the story unfolded. The setting and the scenes were vivid and detailed.  What’s Not True is a pretty quick read, I wanted to get to the last page and see how it ended. And it was a surprising bombshell dropped at the end. Something I didn’t see coming. If you enjoy contemporary book with a pretty complicated story, you will enjoy this one.  A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. The Unlikely Yarn of the Dragon Lady by Sharon Mondragn
    ibjoy1953 , October 11, 2021
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK Sharon J. Mondragon’s debut novel was a delightful and fun read. I enjoyed the different flavor of characters involved. The knitting group itself was interesting, and I was with them, why would the pastor kick them out of the church? But the group found more than they ever imagined knitting in an open space where there was people everywhere. When I read this I couldn’t help but think of our own prayer shawls ministry at church. I don’t knit but I crochet, and it is a fun and satisfying feeling to make the prayer shawls and blankets to give to those in need. The Unlikely Yarn of the Dragon Lady had me laughing with the ladies and share a tear or two with them. Margaret was a character that has issues but the reader doesn’t know what that is for a while. All in all, this is a entertaining read that I had a lot of fun reading. If you enjoy a good clean contemporary read with a good dose of faith running through, you will delight in this story. I’m giving this Four Stars and I look forward to more from Sharon J. Mondragon in the near future. A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. ibjoy1953 , October 11, 2021
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK It is a cold winter in Artic Land, the howling wind brings its freezing cold breeze around the homes of the forest animals, the snow makes it hard for them to find food to eat. Poor Gus and Scout are having such a hard time that Chipper the Fox decides to Make them Merry to help them out. But Fox seems to mess up everything. Then he has an idea, and wants the help of his friends Gus and Scout. You need to read the book to find out what this big surprise is! Chipper Makes Merry is an adorable children’s book that teaches children the importance of helping others in need. What a clever idea to use a fox to teach such a valuable lesson. Kimber Fox Morgan does an amazing job writing this special book. The words are fun and easy to read for the older child. The illustrations by Kim Sponaugle are so very adorable your children will love looking at the pictures. Each page is filled with winter, snow covered forest ground and I love the way Morgan makes some of the words so much fun. Children will not only learn the valuable lesson of helping others, they have the beautiful illustrations to view any time they want. This special book is a must to read to children during the cold winter days. Chipper Makes Merry is a must for daycare, kindergarten, young elementary classrooms, as well as elementary school libraries. A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. What's Not Said by Valerie Taylor
    ibjoy1953 , October 11, 2021
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK  What’s Not Said is the debut novel from author Valerie Taylor and it is the first book in her What’s Not Said series. It is clear Kassie is not happy being with her husband and not happy with her life. After all she is cheating on him with a much younger guy, with plans to divorce her husband. But when she finds out her he has a chronic kidney disease and is quite ill, the divorce is off, that is until she finds something in her husband’s drawer that proves his deceit as well. This is quite the back and forth story and there are twists and turns that will through readers off chorus, so it makes you want to keep reading to see who is doing what next. What’s Not Said is well written with well created character that are pretty realistic. I have to admit that it is more of an adult story than I was expecting so I did skip over a lot of it to get to the main storyline. This would be good for those who enjoy a good contemporary romance. I think this one is a Four Stars for me. A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. My Cat Is Blue by Sarah Sommer
    ibjoy1953 , October 09, 2021
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK My Cat Is Blue is about a family loosing a pet, and at the same time their cat started turning blue. After doing everything they could for their cat, they finally took him to the vet. While the little girl was explaining about their cat, the vet figured out what was wrong and offered them a solution. This made the whole family happy. I enjoyed this sweet story, and even more so because we just lost a pet and I know how sad it made us. The story is perfect for a child who has lost one if their pets. Sarah Sommer does a really nice job writing this book so children can understand, and I love the rhyming throughout the story. The illustrations by Bulankina Ka were the perfect fit for the story, each illustrated page is just right for the story on that page. And I love the gray, white and blue in the beginning. It fits the mood so well. I think children will love this book and will want it read to them over and over. It would be awesome in an daycare or early childhood classes or elementary school library. This one is a Five Stars all the way for me. A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. Falling for Her Convenient Groom by Jennifer Faye
    ibjoy1953 , October 09, 2021
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK  Franco and Carla thinks their arranged marriage will be just what they both need for their businesses, their relationship is totally platonic after all. And it’s just for six months. They can do this, and after the six months is over, they will part ways. But then it may not be this easy. I love Jennifer Faye’s books and this one sure didn’t disappoint. Both Carla and Franco were my favorite characters from the beginning and really wanted their marriage to work out, even thought they were not in love. I enjoyed following their journey, with their unusual commitment, as well as the ups and downs and the issues that seem to always get in their way. Faye does an amazing job with the main and supporting characters in this story. The plot is interesting and there is plenty going on to keep my attention throughout the entire book. And I love how Faye weaves everything together and gives readers a beautiful ending. I am looking forward to more from Jennifer Faye in the near future. Falling For Her Convenient Groom is Five Stars for me. If you enjoy a sweet clean romance, you will love this newest read from author Jennifer Faye. I highly recommend that you check out this book. Humanity's Cry for Change: Actions You Can Take to Create a New Earth by Kate Heartsong
    ibjoy1953 , October 05, 2021
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK In Humanity’s Cry for Change, Kate Heartsong gives us Actions You Can Take to Create a New Earth. It is true that people are more anxious that ever before because of the chaos in the world today. Heartsong is showing how each of us can help change our earth by interacting with each other through positive thinking and positive change. She quotes a lot of people, tells the scientific bases of how we should live with oneness in order to survive. Heartsong has a lot of ideas about how we can connect with each other, but I was hoping for more of how we can help our world by doing things to help our environment. She did touch on this a little bit and it was things I have already heard. But want more in this area. If you are into changing yourself and changing this world by connecting with each other and thinking positive thoughts instead of the negative that is so relevant today, you may enjoy this book. Hope for New Beginnings: 31 Devotions for the Adventure by Shirley Crowder and Howard Eyrich
    ibjoy1953 , September 21, 2021
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK  This thirty one day Devotional is different from most I have read. It goes much deeper than the day to day readings in most devotions. For me, each devotion challenged me to dig deeper into the word, as well as digging deeper into my walk with the Lord. Each devotion starts with a verse to go along with the topic, it has places for my thoughts, notes on what the devotion is saying. It’s really more like a workbook, with the interactions to scripture, prayer, thought provoking, questions, helped me to pull out the struggles I face, issues I am going through, and just overall helped me dig deeper into the topic of each day. I am definitely not ready to put this book down. I want to go back and read it. We are always facing new beginnings in our life with whatever you are going through. This gives me the encouragement I need to face some of my struggles. If you are looking to dig a little deeper with your daily devotions, this could be what you are looking for. I encourage you to check out Hope for New Beginnings. I would like to thank the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review. Shadowed in Silk by Christine Lindsay
    ibjoy1953 , September 21, 2021
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK  The early 1900’s India is the setting of this Shadowed in Silk. Christine Lindsay writes an intriguing story rich in history and difficult issues throughout. I found the characters are flawed but relatable and interesting to get to know. Geoff and Abby’s journey throught the story was a difficult one but still I enjoyed the journey with these two characters. Especially with so much evil lurking, sometimes it was difficult to read and other times I couldn’t put it down because I wanted to see what the ending would be. Lindsay does a nice job weaving together all of the characters, situations, issues in the book. If you enjoy historical fiction, this is one you will enjoy. The Texas Seal's Surprise: A Clean Romance by Cari Lynn Webb
    ibjoy1953 , September 21, 2021
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK  Abby James is headed to small town Three Springs, Texas after she finds herself pregnant with a cheating boyfriend. Texas is where her cousin openes the store their grandparents owned, and seems the right place to be. But driving in a big rut on an off road and a flat tire wasn’t what she wanted. Neither was the handsome NAVY SEAL who came to her rescue on horseback. But Abby is happy to see her cousin and loves helping to get the old store up and running. If the NAVY SEAL didn’t show up everywhere she is. I love Cari Lynn Webb’s books. I always know I am in for an amazing sweet clean read, and this one is no different. I love these characters and this small town, even if gossip does run rapid. I love the way people help each other whenever they need help. Webb does an excellent job of introducing new characters for this book and the beginning of a new season. I love her writing style and how she always keeps us readers turning the pages with her fabulous writing skills. I can’t wait for the next book in this series. If you love romance reads that are clean and enjoyable, this is a perfect book for you. I love that I can give this book Five Stars. A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book.
