Spare
by
Prince Harry the Duke of Sussex

This book, I couldn’t stop listening. It brings depth to expected areas; his mothers death, growing up in the monarchy and his marriage to Meghan. Then he takes us to a candid place of his combat experience , quite chilling and his experience of being hunted by the press all his life. I had no idea. I think of the word “spare”, something you need but not often and not thought about. What would have happened if Harry had been born first? Are Charlotte and Louie spares? This book is worth your time and attention.

Going There
by
Katie Couric

I grew up with the Today show on TV in my parents house and later on, in my own, following Katie through her pregnancies and later being gripped by the commentary the morning of 911. I appreciate her writing as a woman in a male run business and for the many historical references, and I also appreciate it from the memory of her grief paralleling mine when her husband died and I experienced loss at the same time. So let’s be real she’s a very white girl and this is her world . She’s coming from that perspective, I appreciate that she knows that and can see how she has looked at the world and her past and reflect on it. I do like the way she writes and the way she has grown as a person through covering Columbine, her friendship with Matt Lauer, all the misogyny in the television business, etc. I think it’s very honest. I found it fascinating.
