I thought this book was very funny. Not as consistently good as "Our Beloved 26th," which almost gave me a heart attack from laughing so hard, but it's a nice sarcastic commentary on romance, or lack thereof. Maybe MC took it too seriously.

Action Heroes Archives 02
by
Steve Ditko
Neil
, June 12, 2007
I'm a huge fan of Steve Ditko, and I think he may done his best work on the Charlton Action Heroes. The Captain Atom and Nightshade stories are full of atmospheric suspense, the Blue Beetle stories give us a glimpse of what might have been if Ditko had continued plotting and drawing Spider-Man, and the Question stories set the template for violent super-heroes like the Punisher, Wolverine, and Lobo. These are the original Watchmen, in fact--Alan Moore used these characters as the inspiration for Dr. Manhattan, Nite-Owl, and Rorshach. Moore's book was a work of genius, but he had a sturdy foundation to work from. Neil Anderson
