I don't know who decided to call this twiggy little volume of nebbishy
rubbish a "Great Deal." It's neither great hah, that's
a laugh nor is it a deal. In fact, spending money on Neal Pollack's
pompous reminiscences and self-flattering observations it's almost
like he's just making stuff up is about as sensible as donating
your rent to Donald Trump. Absurd. Offensive, even. You'll certainly never
see that wad of cash again. Nor will you be able to retreive the hours
okay, minutes you waste reading this pile of recycling.
Almost any book would be a better investment: Sweet Valley High #68:
Love Bet, Digital Photography All-in-One Desk Reference for Dummies...anything.
There are readers Saul Bellow, Edgar Allen Poe,
Oprah who have actually enjoyed the book. Lowlifes!
I trust that you, dear reader, are more discriminating. Randy, Powells.com
Synopses & Reviews
Neal Pollack has been the Greatest Living American Writer across six decades, seven continents, and ten wives. He has won the Pulitzer Prize, the Booker Prize, the PEN/Faulkner Award (twice), and the Premio Simon Bolivar for contributions to the people's struggle in Latin America. In 1985, Pollack's writing was declared "beyond our meager standards" by the Swedish Academy.
With the publication of The Neal Pollack Anthology of American Literature, the definitive collection of his work in English, a new generation of readers is set to discover nothing less than the ultimate meaning of human existence on earth. This astonishing work of fictitious nonfiction, the funniest and most creatively styled postmodernist confection of its time, has been universally praised as the best book ever written except for maybe Don Quixote and The Shipping News. The Anthology now expanded, updated, and thoroughly repaginated answers, once and for all, the question that has plagued American society in general, and literary critics in particular, since Neal Pollack was born: "Who is Neal Pollack?" At last, we know.
This Perennial edition features all-new material, including a Pollack family tree, footnotes, more essays than the now-forgotten hardcover, and a study guide with suggestions for further reading, if, in fact, any further reading is required. Keep in mind that in addition to his standing as the Greatest Living American Writer, Pollack is also a potentate of the highest order and is therefore not to be held responsible for what happens, sexually or otherwise, on his book tour.

"I have seen the future of horror and its name is Neal Pollack." Edgar Allen Poe
Review
"Every fatuous magazine writer who's even contemplating boarding a freighter, befriending a working-class black woman, dropping a celebrity name, or subjecting us to his narcisstic maunderings about life, death, identity, and Cuban hookers should shrivel into a little gray lump at the very sight of this book." Laura Miller, Salon.com
Review
"One of the greatest satires of authorial vanity to come along since the actual career of Norman Mailer." Will Blythe, Rolling Stone
