Synopses & Reviews
The archetypal couple offers an entirely novel view on couple relationships. Introducing archetypal characters to the relationship between the sexes provides new and untapped dimensions for understanding and exploring the life cycle of this intense human bond. The Archetypal Couple is a unique merging of two parallel narratives. The first narrative consists of the authors experiences as a therapist for couples, while the second is an exploration of stories from the Old Testament and Greek mythology. The central themes of these stories are love and the relationship between the sexes. Each account of the couples seen in therapy brings to life a biblical or mythological tale that illuminates and amplifies a deeper understanding of what both binds and separates men and women. The book presents an illustration of how universal myths exist in our everyday lives, our contacts with others, and our relationships with those closest to us, interweaving the two narratives from a Jungian point of view.
