Liar, Temptress, Soldier, Spy is the true story of four women fighting for their countries during the Civil War. It's a stunning narrative compiled from personal letters, covert correspondence, and arrest records! The Civil War pit brother against brother, but as Karen Abbott eloquently proves through this book, it also pit sister against sister. This book has everything from Pinkerton spies to swords sewn into hoop skirts to messages hidden in elaborate hair styles. I loved this book and so will the history buff in your

William Shakespeare may have performed for royalty, but he wrote for the cheap seats. In The Serpent of Venice (the sequel to Fool), Christopher Moore once again follows in the Bard's bawdy footsteps. The Serpent of Venice finds Pocket (a lewd and vengeful fellow) caught up in someone else's plot in Othello's vengeful Venice. He loves, he lusts, and he is loquacious! He is joined by Drool, the simple giant (who is a bit much for the ladies), Jeff the monkey, and a witty stick named Jones. This cookbook is so great, I own two copies! One for kitchen use and one that is for menu planning and reference. At the back of The Essential Vegetarian Cookbook, there is a guide to grains, legumes, and vegetables — how/when to buy, store, and cook them. I use this cookbook almost every day. I owe my culinary confidence to this book

This book is a reminder that good and evil are choices we can all make. What neither film adaptation of this novel truly captures is the overwhelming creepiness of all the characters. From a young boy's fantasies about murder and revenge to the horrors of neglect and poverty, Let the Right One In will take care of the heebies and the jeebies and throw in some mayhem and gore for the fun of

In Gone Girl, Flynn finds a way to crawl inside the dark places in your mind, sets up camp, and proceeds to tell ghost stories. By the time the fire dies, you can't remember why you invited her. This book was freezer worthy. If you have a significant other, you'll be sleeping in the guest room with the door closed and

The Black Count is the story of Alex Dumas, the father of Alexandre Dumas and inspiration for some of the best adventure fiction ever written. Alex Dumas's life is stranger than fiction in a time when hope for the common man, equality, and emancipation are vying to be the ideals of a
