Eliza Clark: Powell’s Q&A: Eliza Clark, author of ‘Penance’ (0 comment)
Describe your latest book/project/work. Penance is an untrue crime novel — that is, a fictional novel told in the form of a true crime book. The book covers the violent murder of a teenage girl by three of her schoolmates and is told by a washed-up tabloid journalist — but how much of it is true? It’s came out on September 26...

Publisher Comments

Meant for "bigger things," Scuffy the Tugboat leaves the man with the polka-dot tie and his little boy, and sets off to explore the world. But on his daring adventure down the river, Scuffy realizes that home is where he’d rather be, sailing in his bathtub. Generations of parents and children have cherished this classic Little Golden Book, originally published in 1946.

This was my favorite book when I was a tiny kid. I loved the pictures and that the tug boat had such a great adventure when a flood carries him down the river. In the end he came back safe thanks to the little boy that owned him. It made an impression on me growing up. Great story and artwork. I still remember it all these years later.

I haven't actually read it. An older friend of mine said it was a favorite of his when he was young and told me in brief about Scuffy's adventures on the river. Then having gone through all that, Scuffy figures out home is really where he wants to be, not the ocean. Even though it's a childrens story, I like the message that we all need a little adventure now and then. So I had to get a copy for myself.
