Even better than The Cuckoo's Calling, which I thought was brilliant! I love how Strike and Robin's working relationship develops in this one. The reader gets to know the characters better, and the crime itself is super creepy and weird. The setting jumps off the page and immerses the reader in the frigid, sopping mess of early-winter London. I read this sitting in the sun, and I felt like I needed a coat! A must-read for mystery lovers, or those who are captivated by grisly murders.
