Publisher Comments

Winner of the 2011 Theodor Seuss Geisel Award!

In a brilliant collaboration, best-selling authors Kate DiCamillo and Alison McGhee, along with acclaimed illustrator Tony Fucile, introduce an outrageously funny pair of friends.

Meet Bink and Gollie, two precocious little girls — one tiny, one tall, and both utterly irrepressible. Setting out from their super-deluxe tree house and powered by plenty of peanut butter (for Bink) and pancakes (for Gollie), they share three comical adventures involving painfully bright socks, an impromptu trek to the Andes, and a most unlikely marvelous companion. No matter where their roller skates take them, at the end of the day they will always be the very best of friends. Full of quick-witted repartee, this brainchild of Newbery Medalist Kate DiCamillo and award-winning author Alison McGhee is a hilarious ode to exuberance and camaraderie, imagination and adventure, brought to life through the delightfully kinetic images of Tony Fucile.

Review

Praise for Pug and Doug:

"Readers will relate to the bruised feelings, mistaken mix-ups, challenges and ultimate joys of best friendship.  Let's just hope Pug and Doug return for more adventures." -Kirkus Reviews

Review

"As usual, droll, understated watercolors illustrate the pair's tour of popular attractions. . . . Who knows where on earth [duck] and Dodsworth will end up next, but let's hope we find out soon."

and#8212;Horn Book

"The poetics of restraint could not be better displayed."

and#8212;Kirkus

"From the Dodsworth series, another fine, funny book for beginning readers or for reading to younger children."

Synopsis

Step aside, Bert and Ernie, the new odd couple is here!

Pug and Doug are best friends. They both love doughnuts, bird watching, and polka music. They are also very different. Doug has a big imagination. Pug…not so much. When a misunderstanding between the friends hurts Doug’s feelings, Pug must find a way to set things right.

This charming and hilarious odd-couple friendship story is perfect for best buddies who usually, but don’t always, see eye-to-eye.

Synopsis

Dodsworth and his misbehaving duck paland#160;visitand#160;Tokyo on theand#160;fifth stop in the Dodsworth series, where Tim Egan's sharp wit and playful illustrations make this a trip to remember. Will duck ever learn to mind his manners? Or will Dodsworth have to say sayonara to the duck before the trip is through?

Synopsis

With trips to New York, Paris, London, and Rome under their belts, Dodsworth and the duck head for Japan: and#8220;The plane glided over Mount Fuji. Tokyo sparkled in the distance. Dodsworth was a little nervous.and#8221; Dodsworth has good reason to be nervousand#8212;the duck bumps into a rickshaw, falls into a koi pond (he canand#8217;t swim), and knocks over a tray of wagashi! Readers will love the slapstick humor and the odd-couple friendship between Dodsworth and the duck. Four engaging chapters of short sentences, clean design, and gem-like little paintings of the Land of the Rising Sun make it easy for early readers to enjoy the journey.
