An absolutely beautiful book. I fell in love right at the beginning and stayed in love throughout. It's one thing to craft relatable characters you will wholeheartedly root for — it's a separate and magical thing to create such a lovable cast of side characters with their own character arcs. The moments of physical comedy made me feel like I was watching a classic romcom and I genuinely laughed out loud several times. Then, it's another, separate, third feat to weave in the characters' grief, loss, and fear and depict such poignant emotional moments, while still ultimately telling a hopeful YA story. Then, it's a fourth thing to do all of this with stunning illustrations. What a treasure. I am demanding and will be patiently waiting for the sequel and movie adaptation.
