Could you describe your latest book, One Hundred Percent Me?
A little girl is used to hearing questions about her looks all the time. "Where are you from?" "What are you?" These questions are a constant reminder from others that she is different. As she embraces her identity and culture, she teaches others that she belongs, that the differences they notice are part of what make her unique, special, and herself....

This book chronicles the first seven years of an extraordinary apprenticeship that took place in Toronto between the author and a celebrated chi kung master from Shanghai.

Chi kung is sometimes described as an internal martial art, and during the author's apprenticeship, he learned how to manipulate the mysterious life force called chi.

Originally, the author wanted to interview the chi kung master after watching him perform on Ripley's Believe it or Not. Instead, the author became an unwitting apprentice and embarked on an incredible journey of inner exploration that continues to this day.

Many astonishing events occurred during the apprenticeship, such as frequent telepathic exchanges between master and student, the throwing of chi-energy over great distances, and at least one instance of what could be called Jedi mind control, right out of the movie Star Wars.

To complete the first phase of the apprenticeship, the author had to pass a big test, but the nature of the big test was never disclosed. In fact, an important part of the big test was discovering exactly what the big test consisted of, and this detective work is the narrative thread that pulls the reader through the story to its startling conclusion. By turns, suspenseful, philosophical and humorous, this book takes the reader on a fascinating journey into the mysterious world of chi kung.

Review

"Mysteries of the Life Force is a beautifully written account of a Westerner's introduction to an ancient Eastern discipline. Peter Meech, the author of this engrossing tale, provides his readers with an adventure more authentic than anything in the Castaneda books as he slowly develops what his chi kung master refers to as a 'Chinese brain.'" Stanley Krippner, PhD, co-author of Becoming Psychic

Review

"Peter Meech has written a vastly entertaining account of his apprenticeship with Dr. Chow, a chi kung master from Shanghai. The pages sparkle with wit and wisdom and contain facts about chi kung found nowhere else. If there is another book on chi kung that is more engaging, I haven't read it." Alberto Villoldo, PhD, author of The Four Insights

I know nothing about chi kung, and I'm not a New Ager by any means, but the title and the cover of the book intrigued me and so I bought it. From the very first sentence the author had me hooked. Peter Meech tells a riveting story about his apprenticeship with a chi kung master from Shanghai. Not only is there drama and suspense in this account, but because of the culture gap between master and student there is a humor as well. I read the book in one sitting, and now I want to read it again -- this time to reflect on the many philosophical asides scattered throughout the story. If you want a spiritual adventure story based on a true account, you can't do better than this.

This book is a spiritual odyssey, written by a real prose stylist. Imagine F. Scott Fitzgerald writing "The Way of a Peaceful Warrior" and you'll' get the idea. The book is not only beautifully written, it's funny, suspenseful and full of mystery. I couldn't put it down and read it in one sitting. Surely, Dr. Chow -- the chi kung master --- is one of the greatest chi kung masters who ever lived. Since the story only covers the first seven years of Peter Meech's apprenticeship, I am hoping that there is a sequel in the works.
