The National Quilt Museum's annual New Quilts from an Old Favorite contest once again has brought out the best in creativity from today's talented quiltmakers. Quilts are selected for their excellence in design and techniques, their innovations, and their contributions to an exhibit showing the wide range of designs and styles the selected traditional pattern can inspire. With the favorite Basket traditional block as a starting point, a dizzying array of original interpretations is included in this companion volume to the contest and exhibit. Each quiltmaker or team of quiltmakers describes their experience of creating a unique rendering of this much loved pattern. Original sketches and inspiration, design problems and solutions, techniques both new and old are all described in the quilters' own words.
