About the Author
Women’s health advocate and science journalist BARBARA SEAMAN (1935-2008) is best known for her tireless patient advocacy work, which brought about the first warning label on a prescription drug (the birth control pill), and eventually lead her to co-found the National Woman’s Health Network, which continues to protect women’s rights today. Her first book,
The Doctors’ Case Against the Pill (1969), prompted senate hearings, exposed the biases of the medical establishment regarding women’s health issues, and inspired women around the world to take control of their health. Through her many books, countless articles, and how she personally encouraged so many writers, publishers, and activists of all ages, Seaman devoted her life to advocating for women’s rights regarding their health.
Co-editor LAURA ELDRIDGE is a women’s health writer and activist. She is the author of In Our Control: The Complete Guide to Contraceptive Choices for Women and the co-author of The No-Nonsense Guide to Menopause.
