IN a pleasant valley in the north of England lived Mr Marchmont, a gentleman of easy for tune, but who considered himself the richest of human beings, in the possession of an amiable wife, and five lovely children, who were so well brought up as to be the delight of all who knew them, and greatly to contribute to the domestic happiness which uniformly prevailed at Wood bank.
