Excerpt from Ancestry: The Objects of the Hereditary Societies and the Military and Naval Orders of the United States, and the Requirements for Membership Therein
Every applicant for membership must be endorsed by at least one member of the National Society, and her application Shall then be submitted to the registrars-general, who shall report on the ques tion Of eligibility to the General Board of Management, when the question of admission shall be voted upon by the Board by ballot, and if a majority of said Board approves such application, the applicant, after payment of the initiation fee, Shall be enrolled as a member of the National Society.
