About the Author
Dr. Loraine J. Spenciner is a Professor of Special Education and Chairperson of the Division of Special Education and Rehabilitation Services at the University of Maine Farmington. Before becoming a university professor, Loraine was a classroom teacher and later a statewide consultant in special education and early childhood special education. She has conducted numerous workshops and consulted in schools in the United States, in Russia, and in Southeast Asia including Singapore, Indonesia, and China.
Currently Loraine teaches assessment courses for undergraduate and graduate special education majors. She consults with school districts and early childhood services. She conducts trainings for parents and school personnel on a variety of topics including classroom assessment, observations, universal design, and assistive technology. She is passionate about her work with teachers today and with students who wish to be our teachers of tomorrow.
Dr. Libby G. Cohen is Professor Emerita at the University of Southern Maine. She is passionate about supporting teachers and educating children and youth with disabilities. Dr. Cohen has taught in the U.S. and many countries, worldwide. She has authored and co-authored numerous articles and publications and been on the editorial board of several journals.
