It was a GREAT resource, when I was taking A General Science Astronomy class, And, while it is decidedly one of the best "entry level" texts on basic Solar Dynamics , it still is somewhat of a layman's text,... even on that subject.
The author (Jay Paschoff) has a formidable history with Solar - based astronomy, and, therefore, with some rudimentary understanding of basic chemistry, this text was one of the easiest ways that I found for establishing a grounding in solar system physics, without a calculus-based mathematics discipline.
I loved the Aurora Pictures, too ;-)
(Post_Script) After reading the "Good people of Powells, com" ToS I would just like to make clear that I , in no way, am promoting this book other than for the specific NEEDS of "The Good People who Study and Learn with OR without an official Institution" and, as such, GRANT ONLY THESE PEOPLE THE RIGHT TO USE THIS COMMENTARY OF MY OWN FOR THE EXPRESS PURPOSE (AND, NONE OTHER) OF EDUCATING THEMSELVES. Any other persons, organizations, instituions, companies, governments, dignataries of other said and forementioned accompaniments may not. And, in doing so, claim this as my statement-of-authority, of which only I myself may rescind, change or, in any other way, deny access to.
TAGLINE: "It's hysterical...but, you'll never get it pass the censors" - From the movie, "V is for Vendetta" by the Wachowski Brothers.
