Celebrate Babar as he celebrates America

An all-new Babar book featuring photos of the USA collaged with original Babar illustrations for an exciting tour of modern America

In a new picture book featuring the internationally beloved and bestselling Babar, the lovable elephant and his family travel across the United States. Using collage--watercolor illustrations were pasted onto digital photographs--to put the characters directly into real-life scenes, Laurent de Brunhoff takes Babar and his family around the country to see the sights, from New York, where they see such icons as the Brooklyn Bridge and FAO Schwarz; to Memphis, Tennessee, where they see Graceland; to Key West, Florida, where they enjoy the beach; to Wyoming, where they see Yellowstone National Park; and to California, where they see the La Brea Tar Pits, the Golden Gate Bridge, and more; and to everywhere in between.

The innovative format and clever design are perfect complements to the reissue of Babar Comes to America. Readers new and familiar will revisit this volume to see the sights and will be inspired to pack their trunks and head out across the country.

Synopsis

In a brand-new adventure, Barbar and his family return to the United States and visit such landmarks as New York City, Key West, Hollywood, and the Grand Canyon. Featuring photos of the USA combined with original Babar illustrations, this work is sure to take little ones on an exciting tour of modern America. Full color.

Synopsis

Babar and his family are thrilled that Celesteville is hosting the Games! This is their chance to see the best athletes from all over the world compete and to meet new people from other countries. Everyone is wide-eyed as gymnasts fly through the air, divers make a splash, and cyclists race to the finish line!

In addition, Babar and Celesteand#8217;s children are all grown up, and romance is in the air. Babarand#8217;s daughter, Flora, likes to watch the handsome pole-vaulter Cory, from the country of Mirza. One day the two meet in the park, and love soon follows. When Cory asks Flora to marry him, everyone must come together to help them have a magnificent Mirzi wedding.

Babarand#8217;s Celesteville Games is a grand tale about sportsmanship, love, and diversity.

Praise for Babar's Celesteville Games

and#8220;From a franchise as sturdy as an elephantand#8217;s memory comes explicit international goodwill. The bookand#8217;s appeal lies in these calmingly recognizable characters participating in Olympic sports and a mixed marriage.and#8221; and#8211;Kirkus Reviews

About the Author

Laurent de Brunhoff has kept the spirit of Babar and his family alive for more than 50 years. Originally created by Laurentand#8217;s mother as a bedtime story, Babar the elephant first came to life through the art of Laurentand#8217;s father, Jean de Brunhoff, who produced seven books about the character before his untimely death. Building on his fatherand#8217;s original framework, Laurent has gone on to provide many new adventures for the elephant family while giving them new spirit through his use of line and color. Laurent de Brunhoff lives in Connecticut with his wife, writer Phyllis Rose.
