What a delight! With best friends Bink and Gollie, there's always one more adventure around the corner- and on roller skates, no less! Written by the oh-so-in-the-know team of Kate DiCamillo and Alison McGhee and humorously, yet tenderly illustrated by animator Tony Fucile, (I want a treehouse like that!) this is a winning combination: Hopefully there will be many more stories to share in the near future. One sweet (Bink) and one sassy (Gollie), these girls are like so many of us, letting our opposites attract, and still remaining best of friends. A great read aloud, but don't let the sparse verbiage and large pictures fool you into thinking this is for beginning readers: There is talk of a fish who longs for speed, some socks that are more loveable than others, and a one-sided conversation of who "whom" is! That with words like unwillingness, ventured, compromise, implore, etc., make it VERY fun for the adult reader, and a bit challenging (and that can be a good thing) for the child. Please try it for yourself- it's a keeper.
