'Buckingham Palace, nestled comfortably in the centre of green parkland, is the heart of Royal London. Creamy mansions, ceremonial avenues and leafy parks provide a grand backdrop to the pomp and circumstance which accompanies any royal event. Oddly, the least flamboyant building of all is Buckingham Palace, which began as a modest little mansion and doesn't seem quite able to shake off its origins, despite countless extra wings and flounces.'
