This is not just another version of an NKJV Bible. God's Word becomes accessible and compelling in this Bible without sacrificing the intent, context or meaning of the words. It's the most lively, engaging Bible format I have come across to date.
For those of you familiar with Dr. Charles Stanley's broadcasts, this Bible includes his Life Principles (e.g., "Obey God and leave all the consequences to Him") tied into scripture, as well as a very unusual and useful, though not exhaustive index of God's Promises. It also has several "mini-studies" of notable people in the Bible that are much more interesting than those of most other study Bibles I have read. Dr. Stanley has a gift for explaining things in a way that is clear and connects the past, its events and people, to today's reader by pointing out the parallels between the feelings, actions, and consequences of biblical figures and modern Christians. It includes answers to tough questions and could be used to spark small group studies or individual study.
If you love the poetic flow of the NKJV Bible, but at times find yourself a bit puzzled as to how it applies in your life, or if you just find page after page of text with no mental breaks daunting, this is a perfect choice for you. This is also a great introduction to Dr. Charles Stanley's practical yet uncompromising approach to the word of God.
Two caveats: if you are either (or both) a "fan" of Charles Stanley's teaching style and want to follow along with him, or are approaching the Bible for the first time, I can't recommend the NKJV version---or rather, ANY NKJV Bible. As beautiful as the wording is, it simply is not the most approachable interpretation. Also, Dr. Stanley has switched over to the NASB (New American Standard Bible, a.k.a., "NAS" Bible), which is currently recognized as the most rigorous version of the Bible in terms of being closest to the actual wording and meaning of the Greek and Hebrew.
All in all, if you enjoy the NKJV and are looking for a study Bible, this is a truly special version and well worth adding to your private library.
