Synopsis
This monograph presents computational models that describe characteristics of tapered and cylinder roller bearings in various industrial applications. At first, loads on gears and bearings are calculated from the acting torque on the rotor; they are used for further calculations of the bearings. The computing models, consisting of many circular slices for each rolling element, enable computation of the Hertzian pressures at the elasto-hydrodynamic (EHD) contact area, oil-film thickness in elasto-hydrodynamic lubrication (EHL), bearing frictions, limiting voltage of electro-pitting, and lifetimes of bearings for different operating conditions. Furthermore, to reduce both the testing time and cost, an accelerated load spectrum is applied to the testing of the bearings.
The target audience of this monograph primarily comprises practicing engineers of electro-machines and transmission systems who want to understand the interactions between these working, but the book may also be beneficial for graduate students in mechanical engineering alike.
