Synopsis
Excerpt from Concerning the Genealogy of the Bettens Family and the Book Entitled: Mrs. Louise E. Bettens
I don't know any more insidious and fascinating way of wasting time than in genealogy. In odd moments, for many years, I have indulged moderately in this form of dissipation, and am, at the present moment, doing so. One certainly might spend time in worse ways. It interests me to see that a man of active life, like you, now that he is less busy, turns to the past; Do not be distressed by the thought that in another month you will reach your three score years and ten. I don't find it bad, and one learns to put up with the inconvenience resulting from worn machinery.
