Synopses & Reviews
Poet Jane Glazer has written a memoir that revives and celebrates a mostly vanished American way of life. Born into small town Iowa of a veterinarian father and an artist mother, Glazer looks back on growing up under the powerful influence of her grandmother, the deep and abiding bond she developed early with her brother, and the surprising and ingenious methods of small farming and country medicine. One hears in this subject matter certain connections to Laura Ingalls Wilder and James Herriot, but Glazer's prose and vision are all her own.
