With action from the first page all the way to the end, this book is fast paced and riveting entertainment. Julianna Jameson is a hostage negotiator who is good at her job and can boast that she has never lost a hostage. At least, that is what she can say until she meets up with the latest serial hostage taker who moves from one scene to another, requested Julianna’s presence and taunting her with danger. At the first scene, Julianna meets SRO Clay Fox when his sister is one of the hostages. The action is non stop and kept me totally engaged. The characters showed realistic vulnerabilities and doubts about their faith as the intensity of the threats ramps up. I enjoyed the plot and its realistic details, but I mostly enjoyed getting to know the characters through their interactions with each other. My favorite character was Dottie, Julianna’s teen sister who demonstrates courage. The themes of overcoming the past, facing the future, forgiving yourself and others and trusting God are all prevalent and an integral part of the story. I received a complimentary copy of the book from Revell, but all opinions are my own.
