Synopsis
Excerpt from Death Abolished by Our Saviour: And Life and Immortality Brought to Light Through the Gospel; A Sermon Occasioned by the Death of the Reverend Mr. John Munckley, Preached Aug, 20, 1738 in Bartholomew-Close
Where then fhould dying creatures take refuge, when we look to our own death approaching? Or where (hould we go for confolation upon the death of ufeful defirable friends and relatives, but to Jefus Chriit, who hath abolifhed death, and clearly revealed life and immortality? This is a rnoft important fubje t, and wor thy our ferions thoughts at all times; but I apprehend, we are now come difpos'd to give a fpecial and more than ordinary atten tion to a Difcourfe on death and its con fequences, in thefe molt ufeful and ini'truc' tive views of them. I therefore propofe to confider the two propofitions in the text diitinctly, as well as' in their reference to each other.
