Das Buch thematisiert die gesetzgeberischen Versuche der EU und USA zur Begrenzung potenzieller Systemrisiken von Hedge-Fonds. Die durch die US-amerikanische Subprimekrise ausgeloste globale Finanzmarktkrise hat gezeigt, dass die mogliche Systemrelevanz von Alternativen Investmentfonds lange Zeit unterschatzt wurde. Auch wenn diese nicht die eigentlichen Verursacher der Krise waren, so haben ihre Anlagestrategien dennoch dazu beigetragen, Risiken uber den Finanzmarkt zu verteilen und zu vergroern. Deswegen haben der US-amerikanische und der europaische Gesetzgeber einen einheitlichen Regulierungsrahmen fur Verwalter Alternativer Investmentfonds, insbesondere Hedge-Fonds, errichtet. Die Autorin untersucht, inwieweit der Dodd-Frank-Act als Vorbild fur die AIFM-Richtlinie diente, und weshalb Regelungen zu Private Equity Einzug in die AIFM-Richtlinie gefunden haben.
