About the Author
Robert Needlman, M.D., F.A.A.P., is a board-certified pediatrician and a developmental-behavioral specialist. An associate professor at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Dr. Needlman co-founded the first pediatric-based literacy support program, Reach Out and Read, and is a fellow of Zero-to-Three, the National Center for Clinical Infant Programs. He is a contributor to numerous pediatric textbooks and journals, a widely featured speaker on early learning and literacy, and a columnist for Scholastic's ParentandChild Magazine. Dr. Needlman graduated from the Yale University School of Medicine, and completed his pediatric residency and fellowship in developmental-behavioral pediatrics at Boston University. A fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Dr. Needlman is vice president of developmental and behavioral pediatrics at The Dr. Spock Company and lives in Pepper Pike, Ohio, with his wife and daughter.
