Kelsey Ford: 10 Books That Celebrate Women’s Rights and Women’s Wrongs (0 comment)
Sure, women’s rights have come a long way over the last century, but for every step forward, it feels like we take a few back, and when that feeling is so consistent, so insidious? Man, it makes me want to support women’s wrongs. On this list, you’ll find books about women’s rights — Gloria Steinem, Barbara Ehrenreich, Mary Beard...

Nobody Owens, known to his friends as Bod, is a normal boy. He would be completely normal if he didn't live in a sprawling graveyard, being raised and educated by ghosts, with a solitary guardian who belongs to neither the world of the living nor of the dead. There are dangers and adventures in the graveyard for a boy. But if Bod leaves the graveyard, then he will come under attack from the man Jack—who has already killed Bod's family . . . Beloved master storyteller Neil Gaiman returns with a luminous new novel for the audience that embraced his New York Times bestselling modern classic Coraline. Magical, terrifying, and filled with breathtaking adventures, The Graveyard Book is sure to enthrall readers of all ages.

Thoughtfully written, like most of Neil Gaiman's books it takes you around a left turn, through a side door and offers a perspective both skewed and beautiful. Oh sure, it's a story about a child but it's also a story that can hold a 40-something-year old's interest as well. It is a dark and sweet look at a person whose upbringing is non-traditional and who finds his way through the world...s. A well crafted story where the traditionally scary things, are not scary and the traditionally normal things, aren't that either. I enjoyed it a great deal, I think you might as well.
