About the Author

Award-winning comic-book creator Brian Michael Bendis is one of the most successful writers working in mainstream comics today. He has helmed a renaissance for Marvel's popular Avengers franchise, writing every issue of New Avengers and launching Avengers, Mighty Avengers and Dark Avengers. He has also written the event projects House of M, Secret War, Secret Invasion and Siege. Bendis is one of the architects of Marvel's Ultimate line of comics, having written every issue of Ultimate Spider-Man since its launch in 1999, as well as Ultimate Fantastic Four, Ultimate X-Men, Ultimate Marvel Team-Up, Ultimate Origin, Ultimate Six and the Ultimate Enemy trilogy.

Artist Steve McNiven parlayed a chance trip to the San Diego Comic-Con into a position at CrossGen Comics, where he quickly earned a regular assignment on Meridian. When CrossGen ceased publishing, McNiven moved on to Marvel Knights 4 with writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. Next, he joined Warren Ellis on Ultimate Secret. In 2006, McNiven and Mark Millar shattered the Marvel Universe's status quo in Civil War. His next assignments included Brian Michael Bendis' New Avengers and the initial story arc of Amazing Spider-Man's "Brand New Day" era. McNiven and Millar reteamed for "Old Man Logan" in Wolverine and the creator-owned Nemesis, published under the Marvel Icon imprint. With Ed Brubaker, McNiven helped relaunch Captain America.

`	E I Talamante , December 25, 2014 (view all comments by E I Talamante) The uncanny comic origins of the defenders known as The Guardians of the Galaxy - NOT as you may know them from the recent Disney/Marvel movie of the same name. Tony Stark, a.k.a. Iron Man, meets with Star-Lord and finds himself (along with the rest of them) in deep, intergalactic trouble. King J-son of Spartax, once an idealistic young man, finds himself opposing his son while trying to bring together the universe's greatest powers - each an ambassador from the various galactic empires that dot the Milky Way galaxy. When the All-Mother sees through J-son's plan, the various dignitaries sense impending war. Also included are mini stories featuring the various members of the Guardians as Star-Lord attempts to bring the team together one more time for a little action and a peace-keeping mission.

`	P.M. Bradshaw , October 13, 2014 (view all comments by P.M. Bradshaw) A great place to start with the Guardians of the galaxy. This volume has Tony Stark/Iron Man in it, and is a nice addition. He grounds the story in the Marvel universe, and also serves to show us just how different this title's universe is from the "normal" superhero universe we're used to. The Angela storyline doesn't resolve itself, nor does any of the other storylines, really, but a funny introduction to these characters and this team.
