This series looked interesting when I found it in the store. I thought I'd try the first one out and see what I thought. I ended up going back to Powell's two days later and buying the other two to complete the series. I loved it! It was well written and I sat and read the series in a few days.

I loved this book. Utterly. Completely. Loved it. Mostly because of Patch. Don't get me wrong, I really liked Nora, but she has nothing on Patch. He is not nice, nor is he cute. He is a perfect illustration of the term "bad boy." He isn't one who uses the attitude as a facade; he seriously considers murdering the heroine for his own gain. That is actually his intention for most of the book, until the point when he gives in and is willing to sacrifice everything for her. Swoon. Nora is sweet, nice, a little naive and easy to sympathize with. She is immediately attracted to Patch even though she can tell he is dangerous. And, really, how could she help herself? This book is well-written and fast-paced without speeding through the plot. It was perhaps a little bit predictable at times, but never completely obvious. The romance was really interesting with the unusual homicidal edge on Patch's part and the characters had great chemistry. I went through the entire novel in one night and wished it was longer. I really liked the ending and how it didn't have the popular cliffhanger but left enough unfinished business to keep you asking for more. I would recommend this book to lovers of YA romance and fantasy involving fallen angels. If you like Lauren Kate or Cassandra Clare, you will love this book.

As an avid fan of books that center around fallen angels, I was eager to read this book, and lets be honest, the cover is amazing! I have now read this book twice. I found the story engaging, but at the same time, there were things that didn’t quite make sense. I am hoping that some questions will be cleared up when I am able to read the sequel. Hush,Hush centers around Nora and her best friend Vee. The pair of them meet Jules and Elliot in a café before going to school. The boys were from a privet school in Portland Maine and one was on his way to the public high school with Nora and Vee. When they get to biology class, this is when Nora meets the mysterious Patch. Patch is the mysterious guy who freaks Nora out, thus prompting Nora, the intelligent ivy league bound girl to snoop through is student files, trying to find out what is different about him. Nora soon finds out that there was a death at the privet school Elliot and Jules attended. This coupled with the mysterious break ins and attacks that seem to be following Nora around, prompt her to investigate the boys and the school. She gets into some trouble in Portland but Patch is there to help her. However, Patch has secrets of his own that he keeping from her and its not until the end that Nora figures it all out. I found the writing style to my liking, but the constant use of the word ‘and’ being used to begin a sentence really bothered me. The over all story line was good, I would have liked to see more character development in Vee, however, I think we will be able to see more in the sequel. I did like the authors use of imagery in the story, She took the fallen angel story line and really made it her own. Her story was original and enjoyable. I am excited to read the next book and hopefully I will get some of the answers I am looking for. What Parents Need To Know: The book does talk about sex, but in a non-graphic way, there is kissing and a scene in which 2 of the characters are in their underwear and in a cheap motel, there is some sensuality in this scene but nothing graphic. Cover Art: I loved the cover art on this book! It was what really drew me to the book in the first place. Overall rating: *** 3 out of 5 stars. Obtained from my local library.

I picked up this series thinking several things. 1: more fallen angels. 2: writer’s first book, ever. 3: Twilight-style romance. Needless to say, I wasn’t expecting a whole lot. What I got was such a wonderful surprise. Not only is Fitzpatrick’s writing good, it sizzles. The voice of her main character, Nora, is spot on. She’s smart and a little naive and she’s got fight. Also, Patch, the Edward-style bad body, is so much more interesting and complicated than any sparkling vampire. Sure he’s in love with the girl, but he’s using her for his own ends. Plus, he’s way snarky and doesn’t have such an overpowering protective streak. And on top of excellent characters, the books themselves are great. They’re part supernatural romance, part thriller, part mystery. I was on the edge of my seat through both, and I am seriously frustrated about waiting a year for the next installment. They were good enough I would spend money to read the new one.
