The Indiana Way answers the need for a modern, up-to-date history of the Hoosier state from prehistoric times through the late twentieth century. The narrative focuses on the pioneer generation, on the generation challenged by industrialization in the late nineteenth century, and on those twentieth-century Hoosiers whose experiences ranged from Progressive reform and the Ku Klux Klan to the growth of government power and the homogenization of culture and community.
