Synopsis
Following their dreams, a group of adventurous men and with one remarkable woman travelled west from Manitoba in 1862. The Overlanders' destination was the goldfields of the Cariboo. Along the way they met the Bishop of Rupert's Land, a dishonest guide, crusty old fur traders and three enterprising nuns. The trek was longer and rougher than they could possibly have imagined, but they persevered, undeterred by hardship and fired by hope. The Journey centres on three intriguing individuals: the spirited Catherine Schubert, secretly pregnant when she made the trip, James Sellar, a combative young man of rigid opinions and Thomas McMicking, the handsome, visionary captain of the often unruly company.
