In this award winning children's book Sandy learns to face her giants with the help of a tiny firefly. It builds strong character and help boost self esteem. Kids see themselves in almost every situation that Sandy finds herself in, as she and her firefly go on amazing adventures that captures the imagination. As she continues on her incredible journey, each person she encounters teaches another lesson about friendship and family.
This beautiful collection of moral stories will remind children, no matter how bleak a situation may look, a little faith and a firefly, can take them a long way. It also gives children of color a mirror of strong characters that look like them, and others a window to experience the African American community in a whole new way.

"Chapter seven is just hilarious It made me laugh out loud.
--Lyzette Wanzer, Creative Writing Instructor, Author, Coach
I can't even express how much I LOVED this book. Usually in a full calendar year I come across one or two books (if I'm lucky) that really stand out. Yours is one of those books. In fact, it's one of the best books I've read in the past decade. If you think about all the books that are published and sitting on shelves, and the small percentage that actually do make it to a best-seller list, maybe this will put things into perspective in what I'm trying to say about how special your book is. I really, truly mean that this book is exceptional, and it can stand out among all of its competitors. You have a gift of storytelling, and it's a magical thing to read and experience I loved every moment of this story, and Sandy is the perfect protagonist. I have no doubt that your readers will love this story

Several times, I found myself laughing at Sandy's antics and responses. This was a beautiful tale that will remind children that no matter how bleak a situation may look, a little faith, or a firefly, can take them a long way. This book needs to be in every elementary and middle school library in the US Not only does it give black children a chance to read books with strong characters who look like them, it also helps to humanize the black community to those outside of it. Well done
