Jinwoo Chong: Clock In: Jinwoo Chong’s Playlist for 'Flux' (0 comment)
I had my first inklings of the novel that eventually became Flux about a year after I was laid off from my first job after college, the result of a corporate takeover of my company that eliminated my entire department. While a tough hurdle to overcome at twenty-one years old, I learned a lot about self-sufficiency....

Publisher Comments

The best-selling autobiography of Americas most controversial celebrity icon, Marilyn Manson (with a bonus chapter not in the hardcover).

In his twenty-nine years, rock idol Manson has experienced more than most people have (or would want to) in a lifetime. Now, in his shocking and candid memoir, he takes readers from backstage to gaol cells, from recording studios to emergency rooms, from the pit of despair to the top of the charts, and recounts his metamorphosis from a frightened Christian schoolboy into the most feared and revered music superstar in the country. Illustrated with dozens of exclusive photographs and featuring a behind-the-scenes account of his headline-grabbing Dead to the World tour.

Synopsis

From the world's most controversial rock star comes his shocking, confessional and revealing life story. In The Long Hard Road Out of Hell,?Marilyn Manson candidly and vividly recounts his metamorphosis from a frightened Christian schoolboy into the most feared and revered celebrity in America.

About the Author

I think the title says it all. Marilyn Manson's life has certainly been hellish and bizarre, comprising of a creepy grandpa, the church of Satan, psycho girlfriends, gross antics, and sexual deviancy. It starts out with Brian Warner, an average kid from Florida, and the events that led to his transition into Marilyn Manson, one of the strangest rock stars in history. Manson's dark sense of humor is laced throughout the book, and I found it to be a very entertaining and easy read.

Whatever happened to this guy? Oddly enough it really is a interesting story, true story. He really had a weird granpa. Come As You Are: The story of Nirvana is a much better rock star bio.

Repulsive and morbidly fascinating. A truly thought-provoking and well-written book: not only a retelling of Marilyn Manson's life, but also an examination of fame, death, decadence, anger, publicity, and human nature.

A truly addictive book, excruciating from the view of Manson. Whoever is a fan of the 'Shock Rock' king Marilyn Manson must read this autobiographical work. It comprises and elucidates Manson's feelings and distress in a world governed by aimlessly unmotivated inner desires. It's appalling and shocking that a boy of Manson's character then was flabbergastingly transformed into the new self. It exemplfies the consequences and circumstances Manson had to face in his life that he has become what he is now. It's apparently a 'long hard road out of hell' in the way it's written.
