Synopsis
Excerpt from Memoir of a Mechanic: Being a Sketch of the Life of Timothy Claxton
TO the Memoir has been appended a selec tion Of Miscellaneous Papers, consisting chiefly of articles written by him, serving to illustrate the subject matter of the Memoir itself, and to set in a clearer light some things which were there but slightly touched upon. The most important of these articles, is an account of the origin of Mechanics' Institutions, which, though brief, is interesting, and, we have reason to presume, more accurate than any which is already known to the public in this country.
