Synopsis
I remember seeing the tapestries of the unicorn in the Cloisters in New York City-tamed not by the hunters but by a virgin. The unicorn was a symbol of the Christ presence and I knew the name of the unicorn in my garden was Love-the eternal paradox because once it is found in one person it is reflected in everything.
I now reap the rewards of that long ago experience. Shadow and fairies follow me still and suddenly I am surrounded by friends who understand my reality. Butterflies emerge and grace my world. My time with unicorns and elves and fairies has come into its time in my life.
In this prose poem, eighty-year-old wisewoman Susan Fratis Penny recounts a dream-like experience of overcoming fear and discovering the meaning of life.
