If you’re a fan of procedural police stories filled with local color of a mostly rural type, you have probably discovered the works of William Kent Krueger. But here is a book with the author’s usual elements of mysterious deaths, family drama, and authentic small town flavor, that is reverently written with nostalgia for the summer of 1961 that has the true ring of an autobiography. It is a nostalgic coming-of-age story with extraordinary perspective and insight that is deliciously readable.
