Publisher Comments

Percy Jackson isn't expecting freshman orientation to be any fun. But when a mysterious mortal acquaintance appears on campus, followed by demon cheerleaders, things quickly move from bad to diabolical.

In this latest installment of the blockbuster series, time is running out as war between the Olympians and the evil Titan lord Kronos draws near. Even the safe haven of Camp Half-Blood grows more vulnerable by the minute as Kronos's army prepares to invade its once impenetrable borders. To stop them, Percy and his demigod friends must set out on a quest through the Labyrinth — a sprawling underground world with stunning surprises at every turn. Full of humor and heart-pounding action, this fourth book promises to be their most thrilling adventure yet.

Review

"[T]he best one yet....The often-philosophical tale zips along with snappy dialogue, humor and thrilling action, culminating in a climactic battle between gods and Titans....Look no further for the next Harry Potter; meet Percy Jackson, as legions of fans already have." Kirkus Reviews (Starred Review)

Review

"Like many series, the...books are beginning to show the strain of familiarity and repetition. However, the overarching story line remains compelling, and the cliff-hanger ending will leave readers breathless in anticipation of the fifth and final volume." School Library Journal

Percy and his friends must travel through the ever changing labyrinth of Daedalus to try to save their camp. The action and use of Greek myth was still fun, but it felt very formulaic after reading the first three in the series.

The Battle of the Labyrinth by Rich Riordan Book four The Battle of the Labyrinth a novel by Rich Riordan puts events like “Your mom,” Paul said. ‘I’m thinking about proposing to her,” and, “The body in the coffin was Luke’s,” perfectly together. This book was interesting, but it didn’t consistently captivate me on parts. At moments though, like the scene where Percy Jackson is at Mt. St Helens and feels his full powers come in; keeps your heart pounding and can’t see how he’s going to get put of the situation. The part that I didn’t like in the book is when they keep going on the same event like the Labyrinth. I know it’s called the Battle of the Labyrinth for a reason, but it was just very back and forth. Other than that the book was interesting. I think that the overall theme of the book was trust. I say this because the trust between all the demigods, monsters, and gods depend on who wins; Kronos’s side or the God’s side. I would read this book you like fantasy and a book that keeps you on your toes. So next time you want a real thrill rider, stop by your local library or Borders and pick up The Battle of the Labyrinth by Rich Riordan. --skkittel1010102

This fourth installment of five picks up the pace and tension as the threat of world domination by the Titan Kronos becomes increasingly likely. Meanwhile, because Percy is a young adolescent, his emotional entanglements are powerfully distracting. Lots of fast action, an interesting take on Daedalus, and girl trouble make this an enjoyable, quick read.
