Michael D. Coogan is professor of religious studies at Stonehill College, Easton, Massachusetts, and director of publications at the Harvard Semitic Museum. He the editor of The New Oxford Annotated Bible and The Oxford History of the Biblical World, and coeditor of The Oxford Companion to the Bible.
