Grateful to finally find an abridged version! It’s disturbing how many reviews I found that were sentimental about racism and sexism in the original book. I personally prefer to influence children positively and not at the expense of indigenous or black people. Not to mention women. Five stars for evolving beyond bigotry.

Be warned that this is the abridged version. The original has over 100 pages; this one has about 60. They're both great, don't get me wrong, but if you a Scarry fan from childhood, you'll miss many of the pages from the original. I'd give it 5 stars if it was the complete book.
