Synopsis
London's most notorious madam has retired but now her funds are running short. So Viola Whedon chooses the most lucrative sources she can think of: publishing and blackmail. It's either pay to be forgotten or find yourself immortalized in a salacious memoir.
Leonidas Vaughn is a second son from a dwindling estate. But his dying grandfather provides clues to a lost fortune sent by the King of France to support Bonnie Prince Charlie's bid for the throne. The treasure may be hidden in a house now occupied by the most reviled woman in England, the courtesan Mrs. Whedon.
Leo and his cousin Alistair promise their grandfather to find the fortune. But Alistair has other ideas. He wants to claim the fortune for himself, and he's not going to let Leo or any whore, no matter how famous, stand in his way.
Leo is left with two choices: Allow his cousin to win or seduce his way into the life - and house - of the most famous courtesan in England. As a bonus, if he can prevent another volume of her memoir from being published, he'll be a hero in every club on St. James's Street.
About the Author
ISOBEL CARR is single, child-free, and a committed "dog person" (the bigger the dog the better). She has taught creative writing, horseback riding, and seminars on historical costuming. She can start a fire without matches and hitch a team of horses to a wagon. She can also spend nine hours in a Victorian corset without a problem but can't wear heels for more than four hours. She laughed all the way through every episode of
Colonial House, and if she could only watch one movie for the rest of her life, it would be
Impromptu.
