Author B.J. Daniels spins a contemporary western romantic suspense tale in "Smokin' Six-Shooter". Big city girl Dulcie Hughes never dreamed that she would inherit a Montana ranch property and discover that nothing about her life was true in the way she had always believed. Her "ranch" consists of a dried-up patch of ground and an abandoned old house which was the scene of a gruesome unsolved murder. Tensions in the community are running high as ranch owners are desperate for much-needed rain, and Dulcie's questions set nerves even further on edge. Russell Corbett, one of the local land owners, is intrigued by Dulcie, and she is definitely not immune to his innate courtly cowboy charm. Her growing involvement with Russell is another unexpected complication that leaves Dulcie both happy and hesitant.
