Burkins is the first author I have found who talks about having an out of body experience in the heat of combat. Any other vet who reads this can claim back a bit of their sanity that they gave to the gods of war.
His experiences after the war and his spiritual lessons made for powerful reading for me. This book is not for the faint of heart. If you want to understand why the person you know changed so much from going to war, this book might help. Even if it's you that you are trying to understand.
