About the Author
There is, indeed, such a thing as a Southern gentleman. His name is Morgan Murphy. The best-selling author and former Southern Living travel editor exudes Southern charm. He's a witty and accomplished writer and an Alabama native whose four favorite food groups are bacon, bourbon, biscuits, and pie. Murphy is the author of three books, including Off the Eaten Path and Off the Eaten Path: Second Helpings, and has penned countless articles for Vanity Fair, Forbes, Esquire, The New York Post, and Southern Living.
A camera and radio natural, he has appeared on The TODAY Show, Fox and Friends, CNN, Sirius/XM, and NPR. And there's iron behind his cigar smoke: Murphy serves as a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy and is a veteran of the war in Afghanistan. He is currently assigned to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
