Every year, the booksellers at Powell’s submit their Top Fives: their five favorite books that were released in 2023. It’s a list that, when put together, shows just how varied and interesting the book tastes of Powell’s booksellers are. I highly recommend digging into the recommendations — we would never lead you astray — but today...

Publisher Comments
The recipes and reminiscences of the American country cooking Lewis grew up with some 50 years ago. A richly evocative memoir of a lost time and a practical guide to recovering its joys in your own kitchen.

Hello - I am a filmmaker in Atlanta. I just wanted to let you know I produced a 21 minute documentary about Miss Edna Lewis. The film is called "Fried Chicken and Sweet Potato Pie". It contains an interview with Judith Jones, her editor for 'The Taste of Country Cooking' and all of Edna Lews's subsequent books. It is viewable in its entirety on Internet at a Gourmet Magazine website and on a Library of Virginia website. Just Google Fried Chicken and Sweet Potato Pie. My website, bbarash.com has more information about the film and the story of Miss Lewis. Sincerely, Bailey Barash
