Using data to make instructional decisions is an idea that has taken root in K-12 education. But most educators are still in the dark as to how to turn this great idea into a reality. In her best-selling book Using Data??Getting Results (Christopher-Gordon, 2002), Nancy Love created a framework for this process around science and math. The National Science Foundation was very enthusiastic about Love?'s work and the process, and they gave her a grant to ??develop a process to make it come alive?? (Nancy Love?'s description). They have been field testing this new iteration which is a step-by-step facilitated process for analyzing data. The results have been terrific and now they are looking for a publisher to disseminate the materials they have created.''??''This book will have three components: 1) Planning Guide (step-by-step for data teams, the issues around data) 2) Toolkit (descriptions of tools, activities, Powerpoint slides, everything for training/coaching) 3) 2 videos (8 minute overview to use for buy-in, 15 minute video that shows a team using the process) + toolkit activities &BAD: amp; Powerpoint slides on CD. I propose that we combine all three together into one book but am open to other suggestions.
