1 Thess 1:9-10; 4:13-18; 5:1-11 (also 1 Cor 15) present Paul's extensive exhortations on the afterlife based on Christ's death and resurrection. Paul employs principally apocalyptic and eschatological motifs in these teachings. Christ's second coming or parousia is the decisive moment of the determination of the fate of the dead and the living.
