`	techeditor , November 21, 2014 (view all comments by techeditor) Thanks to my sister, I finally read THE FAULT IN OUR STARS. She had been encouraging me to read it for, what, a couple years? But I kept resisting. I knew the book was about teenagers, so it didn't interest me. But I gave in. If you haven't read this book yet because it's about teenagers, do. The teenagers are exceptionally bright, well spoken, and mature. The story (which I won't tell you about because it's a short book, and anything I say is potentially a spoiler) grabbed me from page 1. Don't read reviews of it. Something irritated me, though: Hazel really does seem stupid when it comes to her favorite book, which is a work of fiction. The end left her with questions about what became of three of the characters. (Yes, I consider a hamster a character.) And, boy, she really needs to know! It takes a drunk to tell her that nothing became of them because they aren't real. But you probably already read this.

`	Honoured Matre , October 23, 2014 Like most readers, I knew the book intended to draw tears...and I was also surprised when it did. What surprises me more is how this young male author can successfully write from the perspective of an adolescent female. I picked up the book on recommendation of my then teen-aged daughter, and didn't expect anything more than a soppy, sad love and loss tale and that we would have a good mom-daughter discussion on life and love. It delivered the tale, but with so much depth and character that I was left wanting more...truly a gem in YA literature, and recommended to all.

A story about two teenagers with cancer - that has sad written all over it. But I did start it, and it was delightful. It's one of those stories that evokes a number of different emotions, so there's sadness, but also laughter, respect, and gratitude.

`	felicia allen , September 14, 2014 (view all comments by felicia allen) I finally got around to reading this book. I finished it in one sitting. Augustus Waters and Hazel Grace both have cancer. Instead of focusing on dying, they focus on love and life. They help each other through tough times, laugh when they can, live each day to the fullest, and figure out together what true love is. This book is inspirational and uplifting, but it has a tragic ending. It is eye-opening showing what it is like first hand to battle cancer. My only regret about this book is that it took me so long to read it.

`	fritz52 , June 27, 2014 This is a smart, bittersweet love story about young people with cancer. Green creates strong, witty characters who do not wallow in self-pity because of their disease. Rather, you will be enchanted by the honesty of Hazel Grace and Augustus. The parents in the novel are warm, compassionate adults who are realistic about what their children are facing. There is not a cliche or stereotype in this novel. You will close it quietly and be glad you read it.
