After the very kind and ﬂattering re ception which the Italian Schools of Painting' has met with from the public, it will not, perhaps, be necessary to bring forward much prefatory matter 'on the present occasion; since this short account of the great Northern Schools is arranged and conducted on a similar plan, and in tended, in some sort, as a continuation of the former work.
